"I would like to think people know me and know us better that we’re not rolling up any carpets and that we have at least enough of a track record that we have a sense of what we’re doing," he said. "I think any real fan who looked at it could clearly see that it’s not a salary dump. As a casual fan you want more, more, more – ‘Why didn’t you get this guy? Why didn’t you sign this guy?’ We live within our means. It’s a reallocation of resources."

Also...
"If I were a casual fan or a real fan of the team, I’d feel the same thing," he said. "People love Scott. He was a great Ray here, he did a lot of tremendous things. This is what we do. This is who we are and this is what we do. People better get used to it, because it’s going to continue."

You'd be surprised to learn that most Rays fans don't understand that we play ball on a budget...
Is what I’m trying to say.

I always new but
I always new it was a tightrope with talent and dollars, but I’ve learned a lot following this blog. I have some friends that get frustrated and don’t understand why we can’t always keep the best players. I am trying to educate them, while I get more info from DRB.
Tell it like it is Mr. Sternberg
I just hope your guys continue to be more right than you’ve been wrong.

Yep, hopefully this means most of these idiots can jump off the wagon now.

Why would you want the team to have less fans?
That means less revenue.

The bandwagoners have already jumped off this year. He's not going to impress anything worse by saying that.
Frankly, I’m glad he said that. I just wish he would have used the word ‘shmucks.’
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
I'm not talking about Stu
I was talking about Marky Mark’s Third Nipple’s comment. Why would a fan want their team to have less fans?

Because it's cool?
Not really seeing any point here.

Go Stu
I have read both of his interviews here at DRB and the first to be honest I thought “kinda sounds like a dick” (not sure if this falls outside of the clean up your language rules—if so I apologize). The second I warmed up to him alot more. He seemed more open. I personally love this! He is saying no one was complaining when we made the moves to make us compettive, don’t get mad that we are continuing that process. We know more than you.
Need a lineup? No problem...just give me paper, pen, scissors, a hat, and a blindfold
Stu, if you're reading this

Wellllllll then
Can’t hate on anything he said. He’s honest. He might be the realest Tiger in the zoo right now.

new
I’m a new guy here and will admit that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and the Rays did that. Carry on….

He sounds frustrated, to put it mildly
And who can blame him?
New rule
You must buy Season tickets to complain, if that was enforceable, the team would be loaded with money or have peace of mind
Stu is damn good owner. He has done more w/ the team in 4 years then Vice did 10.
Stu, have patience w/ the bay area as a whole. It’s a lot tougher then I realized to make some of these “wise-eggs” see the light of what it means to be competitive. Thank you for you have done for the community and all you continue to do. The moves that your executives have made have been, for the most part, great educated moves. In an ideal world, I wish you could see a better return then a 10% jump in attendence from last year. Again, you are a damn good owner, and keep up the great work.

To be fair, yes Stu is a good owner, but a room full of monkeys could have run the team better then Vince.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.
How's that for some honesty?
There are going to be many good players who cycle through the Rays organization going forward. Sure, it sucks when fan favorites move along, but if you’re ready for it, it’s easy to take.
On the upside (in addition to winning more ballgames) because of all that cycling, we’ll see a lot more quality ballplayers play in a Rays uniform throughout the years. When good talent goes out, more good talent comes in.
