A Thought on Evan Longoria and the A.L. MVP
Evan Longoria's start to the year was simply gangbusters. He was undoubtedly the best player in the American League and maybe all of baseball during this time period. Combine his offenise output with his stellar defense and wow. That month of April was a thing to behold for Longo.
So consider this:
Longoria's best month: .369/.419/.714
Joe Mauer's seasonal line: .373/.442/.608
I'll avoid partaking in "groupthink", but look at those numbers again and remember: Joe Mauer is a catcher.
Amazing.

Question about the splits.
.369/.419/.714
Am I correct in assuming that is BA/On Base %/OPS?

did anyone else see john kruk say this gem about zack grienke on baseball tonight “well, I don’t know, unless he gets a win or two in his next three starts, I have to go with CC, he has the wins.”
stupidity on tv is at an all-time high

I heard Joe Morgan on the SVP show talking about how the Yankees "wouldn't have all those wins without CC"
How CC is the reason they’ve won so many games. “Not to slight Greinke” but he doesn’t have the wins. At this point I decided that quitting smoking was overrated when I found myself yelling profanities at my car cd player.

Nevermind Mauer, i'm still amazed that a 239/341/373
hitter is still getting opurtunites in high leverage situations
I would say the same about Jennings and Joyce.
Very impressed with Hellickson as well. He looked as good as advertised.

I'm fairly happy with what the Rays
bring to the table next season. AF needs to find some luck in bullpen arms, ala Aardsma, and i think we’re set
Catcher is of some concern too
Aardsma strikes me as funny coming from you
Balfour BB/9
2007: 7.3
2008: 3.7
2009: 4.4
Aardsma
2007: 4.7
2008: 6.5
2009 4.3

87% fastballs this year
Pretty comparable strikeout #s past 3 years with Balfours 08 standing out

2.83 FIP and 10.25 K/9 along with .41 HR/9
And he doesn’t play with that moronic necklace after every pitch like a mental patient
I'd take their bullpen in a heartbeat
i love those power arms
You can't see past the stadium
Balfour fits right in with their pen

Seriously?
Their bullpen is far worse than ours.

We even strike out more batters than they do.

And obviously I was wrong on the FIP.
Odd.

xFIP we would be better
Stadium
Rays HR/FB 11.2%
Ms: 9.3%
That makes up .014 FIP

2 more seasons until he's a FA I believe.
Can’t believe the Cubs dumped him for nothing.

Neither.
February 2, 2009: Traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Oakland Athletics for Justin Sellers (minors) and Richie Robnett (minors).

very low lev, but still good
and after being on his 5th team, it’s amazing he can see straight
Lev should not affect pitcher #'s
Though in complete blowouts teams may lose plate discipline

we never said our bullpen was younger
Lowe is young and (from what I know) isn’t limited to certain situations. Just because Lowe is younger now and will most likely be better than Bradford in the future it doesn’t mean there was a difference this past year.
OT:DY and BJ m,ake news again
