Burrell or Bradley?
Last offseason there was a good debate on this website on who we should pursue as our DH. Here Bradley was listed as a prime candidate. But the Cubs overpaid and we went with Burrell. Fast forward to now and neither team got what they wanted. Bradley was placed in a high-stress situation and Burrell apparantly never adjusted to switching leagues and positions. Would a change of scenery do them both well?
The Times Romano believes a swap (if the Rays got additional salary relief for Bradley's 12 mil 2011 salary) would be a good idea.
So the question is, now that the Rays may have a chance to go back and make the decision all over again...would you change it? Which would you rather have (if the Cubs pay most of his 12 mil 2011 salary), Burrell or Bradley?

Best one:
John,MUCH better ideas: stop drinking, install Price as closer, trade Brignac, dump the Gabes, sign Aki for $2 mil, keep Zahn for his defense, keep JP and Cormier and empty the rest of the bullpen. Tell Maddon to let the starters pitch deeper in games
EPIC.

Cubs fan here to ask how crazy this trade is
Cubs give Bradley, paying $12 million of his salary. We take back Burrell and BJ Upton.
Now what prospect(s) do you need from the Cubs in addition to make this possible?
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.

You aren't getting B.J. Upton.

So the Rays aren't looking to trade him?
I honestly don’t know, I thought you were looking to trade an OF with Jennings almost ready to come up. Perhaps I’m way off base with that one.

We are (just not Upton)
Crawford could probably be had next July, if not this off-season because of financial concerns. I kind of like the Bradley/Burrell swap with CHC picking up a lot of the ’11 money ($6-8mil?), throw in Akinori Iwamura to get the Cubs to pony up more money or include a decent prospect and I like it even more for both sides.

Ok so I'm not crazy, just stupid for thinking Upton could be a giveaway
Stupid Rays have a smart front office, in Chicago we would dump Upton for a bag of balls this offseason.
Bradley/Burrell swap is probably good for both sides, though I still think it will take another player from the Rays for the Cubs to pay a lot of money, I honestly think they would pay $12 mil if they got more than Burrell, meaning that basically you get Bradley for two years for what you would have paid Burrell for next year.
Iwamoura intrigues me because he brings the second base thing (a need for the Cubs) and a friend for Fukudome (another need).

I understand about the CHC FO
the reason I included such monetary relief for the Rays w/o adding another player is that the Cubs are talking about dumping him for nothing and have no leverage. Also Jim Hendry has seemingly for a decade drooled over Adam Dunn and Pat the Bat has a very similar set of skills (BB, SLG, and a brick glove). Now I understand that there might be a few other teams interested in having Bradley at an extreme discount for two years, that is why I included Aki, because he is a piece the Rays will discard in the off-season for nothing (actually negative nothing he has a 250k buyout), and a piece the Cubs would find very valuable in that it solves 2B, keep Sorianos name from ever being at the top of the lineup card, and gives Fukudome the Japanese ‘friend’ the Cubs for some reason kept trying to find him last off-season.

Thanks for the help
If indeed you get Bradley, enjoy it because I think he will be really good next season.

Ooh, I hope Aki ends up in Chicago!
Then I can still watch him every day!
Hooray for Aki-Knocks!
I convinced my fiance to use Rays colors for our wedding. What have you done lately?

The only way they move CC in the offseason is if they get a massive return, otherwise they'll wait until the ASB, unless they're in serious playoff contention, then it might not be at all and they'll take the 2 picks.
I can't wait until we trade him for a reliever.

I'm back now asking about Crawford
What exactly is the “massive return” I wish I knew more about the Rays system, but is it pitching they want, or hitting? guys ready for the majors or lower in the minors?
The Cubs don’t match up at all to get Crawford, but I am curious what kind of return some expect for him.

You'd have to
1) Eat Bradley’s entire salary
OR
2) Throw in some prospects
