Did this just...?
Yeah. I think this article just gave me a blood clott.
People, nay, sportswriters, who rely on “the humble run” fail in a collossal way: as writers, they are actively recording our history, yet know so little of it. Runs, as a statistic, are a flawed method of tracking players’ abilities (and have been since their inception by a guy who knew nothing of baseball). So let’s talk wOBA and WAR and let the real fans tell you what stats matter.

Instead of doing a six-part series where some blowhard states that a certain viewpoint is all that matters
It might be less stressful to just read Alex Remington’s series at Big League Stew:

That link will take you to the wOBA post, but the rest can be found from there. Opinions are stupid, just the facts, maam.
I'm a writer.

Yeah, I really like the Stew's intro-to-saber series.
I’m compelled to link in on my blog everytime a new one comes out. If fans understood the usefulness of these stats – the questions they answer – then I could sleep happy.
