Green for Glitches

So, I recently discovered that 2K Sports has resorted to an interesting tactic to try to sell their latest baseball game, MLB 2K10. This game is of special meaning to DRBers because the cover featured the ever-musclebound and UZRing Evan Longoria. The contest, as stated by their website, is to be the first to pitch a perfect game (before May 2nd, 2010 -- must be >17 years old). The winner receives $1,000,000.

Now, having played and owned previous 2K baseball games, I know a few things that this series tends to feature:

  • Glitches
  • Programming Errors
  • Choppy Visuals
  • painful Joe Morgan commentary (I don't know if he's in 2K10, though)
  • Additional Glitches

So I as you, my fellow DRBers, are you willing to endure that much suffering in order to win more money than Longoria will earn in 2010?

This game probably employs the same underlying programming.

Because it sucks. Maybe you should give it a shot?

I pitched my only perfect game in MLB 2k7

The star pitcher: El Duque.

Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all

I think I got a perfect game out of

Fausta Carmona one time. I think I threw like 75 pitches, all fly ball outs. It was absurd.

Baseball Mogul is an incredible game

I got hooked on that about a year ago. Now you’re making me want to pick it up again…

Yeah, I just wish they had wOBA, FIP, xFIP, and tRA.

Is that too much to ask for?

Yeah, they had some odd version of FIP in it

but it never even seemed to be accurate or much of a predictor of anything. An advanced stats version of Mogul would be sick, though.

Yeah, I continually have terrible seasons with my

team DICE (their old FIP) in the 3.00s. I sort of wonder if maybe the game provides those numbers, but they don’t actually predict results… I don’t know.

Yeah, that was always how I felt too

I kinda felt like it was just made up because it never seemed to mean anything. I would put out a great defensive team and they would still always way suck more than their DICE’s said….until I traded them.

This.

Baseball Mogul consumed so much of my time in previous years, yet I always hated the advanced metrics they used.

MVP Baseball 2005. The end.

I miss George Steinbrenner. He was the man responsible for keeping the Yankees competitive.

+1

you can still play it in HD on your 360, and buy it online for under $5.

If you have the PC version, you can download a huge community-made update with newly rendered parks, uniforms, bumper-music and menus.

As a whole, the graphics looks like a six-year-old game; but there has been no more realistic MLB game; before or since.

Just use Roy Oswalt

You’ll average 10 perfect games a day.

I have pitched two perfect games in MLB 2K9

One with Scott Kazmir and another with Clayton Kershaw.

Oh, no. I think you might be confusing a

perfect game with 5 IP, 0 R, 12 K, and 15 BB.

For the $1M prize?

No. After you pitch the perfect game, MLB 2K10 will give you a code to submit to 2K Sports and they’ll let you know if you were first or not.
