The other day, the Rays gave permission to bench coach Dave Martinez to interview for the Blue Jays' managing position. I had a little blurb on it all set to go for tomorrow:

I'd hate to see Dave go, especially considering he works so closely with Maddon and might bring some of Maddon's insights to a division rival. At the same time, though, I'd be a great opportunity for him and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Well, we didn't have to wait long. According to Shi Davidi of The Canadian Press, Martinez is no longer being considered for the job. Consider Maddon's secrets safe.
