Since I'm not the statistical expert, perhaps I can ask the questions so we can get the stats all piled up and sorted so we can get a good idea how the Rays are going to fare in the 2010 Postseason.
Question One: What's your favorite color? Ow, okay. How important was getting home-field advantage in the playoffs in the American League? Weren't the Rays able to beat the teams that made it (Texas, New York, Minnesota) on the road during the regular season?
Subset A: How's the Rays batting vs. the Rangers' starters?
Subset B: How's the Rays pitching vs. the Rangers' bats?
Subset C: What are the intangibles? Any injured players for both teams we need to make note of? (for example, Josh Hamilton is supposed to be coming back off injury for Texas, right?)
Question Three: Say the Rays beat the Rangers and head to the AL Championship series. Which of the other two teams - Yankees versus Twins - do we want to face? Which team provides the more favorable match-up to Tampa?
Subset A: Which team - Yankees or Twins - look most likely to reach the ALCS?
Question Four: Which team should the Rays be rooting for in the National League to reach the World Series? Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants or Atlanta Braves?
Question Five: Can the Rays really win the World Series?
Poll
If the Rays make it to the World Series, which National League team would you prefer as the opponent?
Philadelphia Phillies. REVENGE for 2008, REVENGE! (12 votes)
Cincinnati Reds. State rivalry of sorts against Ohio (UF vs. Ohio State, Marlins vs. Indians in 97), and the Reds are a team with history. (11 votes)
San Francisco Giants. East Coast / West Coast. Battle of the Bays. The Giants bring a ton of history as well. (15 votes)
Atlanta Braves. The most dominant NL team of the 90s making one last hurrah for their manager. (12 votes)
