The bolded names have already signed big league deals, so their compensation is guaranteed. The Red Sox will receive the Tigers first round pick unless they sign Jeter, Rivera, Soriano, or Werth.
The Type As will also fetch the highest available draft pick from the signing team to their former team. If a team signs more than on Type A the team with the higher Elias-rated FA will receive the higher pick.
The Rays can get as much as 10 picks before the end of the second round assuming all of our eligible FAs sign MLB deals. That is REDIC!
Rec. this post, so we can track signings and changes to the draft order!

And hopefully
Teams like the Giants/Braves/White Sox/Team with unprotected pick not play in the ALE signs Crawford and the Rangers sign Soriano. 2 more picks in the 1st besides all the supplemental picks.
Just hope were willing to spend because if we want it, there will be a whole of talent entering the system
Price, Garza, Shields, Davis, Hellickson is too awesome, Niemann for closer?
Agreed.
I think if Feliz gets moved back to the rotation teh Rangers will go hard after Sori.
This draft is supposed to be stacked, so either way if we break the bank we should have a HUGE influx of talent.
It does however mean that Cliff Lee is a Yankee
I think Feliz should be a starter either way go with Lee, Wilson, Lewis, Feliz and Holland but I don’t think they will do that.
Price, Garza, Shields, Davis, Hellickson is too awesome, Niemann for closer?
Atlanta
would actually be a good fit for Crawford, but they probably won’t do it.

Hey, question
Hoffman is gonna retire and since that’s not a new team, wouldn’t the Brewers get nothing for him
And hey, White Sox and Nationals, resign your guys so we can move up please. Even Downs, seems like the Jays want to spend money this off season.
Price, Garza, Shields, Davis, Hellickson is too awesome, Niemann for closer?
Is it only me
Or does Vettleson look like a (already older) version of Reid Brignac?

I thought it was a determined serious looking Brignac when I saw it for about half a second.
Then I rememebered that it was Vettleson.
How the hell is Scott Downs the #2 free agent by the Elias rankings?

This is all fine and dandy, but the fact that we'll be getting a whole slew
of 18 yo kids who probably won’t play till rookie ball 2012 doesn’t really energize the fan base for the coming season

Who gives a shit?
These same idiots decried the Kaz trade, had no idea who Benoit was, etc. etc. I don’t give a shit what they think. I do give a shit about getting a huge influx of talent in to the minors. A team like ou’s HAS to rely on big contributions from the farm system and handing RJ HArrison and co. 10+ draft picks in the first 2 rounds is a great way to do it.
Also, I doubt every player we draft is a HSer.
Also, if a suplpamental pick is not signed, don't they lose it? Meaning they would try to pick college players who are more likely to sign?
If I am commenting you need to hear it. Not really. www.theraysrepublic.com
Yup
and comp picks
Are you concerned about the high mortality rate of your players?

Supplemental picks are protected
“Comp” picks are unprotected, meaning picks that are awarded as compensation for not signing your pick last year. But “comp” picks given as FA compensation are protected.

The average fan doesn't give a damn about the draft at all
Most people won’t hear anything about any of these players for another 2-3 years once some have panned out and make a name for themselves and others flop. That’s just the ignorance of the masses.
If I understand correctly, your implied point is that there’s an argument to be made for signing a player imprudently to appease the benighted masses?

Hmm, I'm unclear of your point.
You implying it’s silly to write about this because no one cares? Or that people don’t get this and just think our owners are being cheap?
If it’s the later: yeah, probably. But what can we do about that? People are emotional and will forget about this sort of stuff by the time we’re a week into the season.
I love Casey Fossum. Now try and take me seriously.

You want them to cater to the average fan? Are you sure? That means Rocco in centerfield for the next five years.
by R.J. Anderson on Dec 1, 2010 4:32 PM EST up reply actions
Don't see it
The way he crapped the bed in playoffs ruined that. If it’s one thing the average fan likes over a feel good story it is winning. Rocco playing center field for the next 5 years does not facilitate that.
I think RJ was referring to 2008 Rocco rather than 2010
Same with Kazmir, Aki, etc when they were traded. Apparently, winning isn’t as good as fielding a team with guys you like.
PIZZA?!?
One thing about all these picks:
If we get one or two of our type As to net a first rounder, I could easily see us nabbing a type A or two ourselves.
Things I am right now:
1. drunk
2. good looking
3. smarter than RJ
4. better at softball than sandy kazmir

Is #1
a requirement for #’s 2-4?

Kudos on 1 & 2, but I highly doubt #4
What’s your BAC Average when you play?
Hell yeah it is.
Any amount of points can be scored week to week. well, besides 1 point. Any number is as likely to be reached as another, since there’s only one of each number, each has the same chance to be hit. IT’s how the syetemof averages works.

From Ken Rosenthal:
If they lose Lee and replace him with Feliz, a four-year, $40 million contract for free-agent closer Rafael Soriano would be an overreaction.
THIS
Just updating this
33rd is the Rangers, you can remove Konerko from the list (basically everyone after Konerko moves up 1, guys below Hoffman will probably move up 1
Price, Garza, Shields, Davis, Hellickson is too awesome, Niemann for closer?
