The United States has fallen short in its bid to host the 2022 World Cup, as Qatar has been awarded the tournament.
Russia has won the right to host the 2018 World Cup.
Australia, South Korea and Japan were also bidding on the 2022 World Cup.
Russia beat England and a pair of joint bids from Spain and Portugal and Belgium and the Netherlands for the right to host the 2018 World Cup.
Russia won despite the absence of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Zurich. At the last minute, he declined to make a final pitch for his country.

We would have to pay in the billions to increase security at stadia, city, and transportation hubs, I really don't see the big deal here other than a bunch of babies crying over nothing, we hosted 4 cups ago, maybe other countries should get a chance

It’ll be at any of the many soccer-specific stadiums in the country, I could see Rochester getting a game before Tampa since we already have a stadium ready to go. You’re talking about a coordinated, nation-wide security effort, add in no-bid contracts given out to defense contractors and it would be in the billions, let’s not be naive.

Sorry, but I don't see Rochester
In January 2010, 18 cities and 21 stadiums were selected for the final bid. The cities are Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington DC
Soccer specific stadiums are too small for WC crowds. They'll be in foobaw stadiums. Especially since those are class joints anyway.
And I guarantee that Tampa and Miami get group stage games because the tourism synergy means big money for the US. Nation-wide security? Doubt that. They’ll be localized, because the US has semi-competent police forces.

Who else would it be?
I could see the feds devoting some manpower, but most of it being coordinated by FDLE and handled by local law enforcement.
It would be designated a National Special Security Event and governmental security would be coordinated by the Department of Homeland Security.
Same thing they do for political conventions, Super Bowls, and other high profile events post-9/11.

They'll probably host people around the region.
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are neighbors, and it isn’t too much further to Dubai. Doha is a pretty big commercial center, I’m sure they’ll be a lot of added hotel rooms there as well.

Not really, it's a complete waste of his abilities
Defense is his strong suit and he can run from 3rd to the wall in 2.4 seconds. Fenway suppresses triples and homers to lefties, while he might see an uptick in doubles, I doubt it. As he loses his wheels, he’ll become a fairly pedestrian player.

Yes a player during his decline years getting paid $150 million
is going to sit well with them.
Upton has at least shown a hint of non-committal. If Craw has a down year after getting paid a ton, he’ll be seen as a giant bust because of the spotlight Boston is in. See: A-Rod.
If he goes to LA or Houston or anywhere else that isn’t New York it will be seen as a down year.
