Soriano could come back? A chance but still not a great one
Soriano has already declined the Rays' aribtration offer, but he could always re-sign with them. However, Tampa Bay appears interested in signing Brian Fuentes to a contract at similar terms to the ones signed by Benoit, Downs and Guerrier. That may not be enough to retain Soriano.
Of course, Soriano could always sign a one-year deal and try his hand in free agency again in 2011-12, but that is an especially risky strategy for relievers, given the tendency for their year-to-year performances to fluctuate.

A few things.
I can see him taking a 1 year deal and trying again next offseason and probably would of accepted arbitration if he can go back in time. However, that 1 year deal may still cost us 10 mil which I just don’t see happening.
And also, as I am sure everyone will, I puked when I saw that signing Fuentes may be the reason we don’t bring back Soriano and we may pay him what Benoit, Downs and Guerrier got….
Price, Garza, Shields, Davis, Hellickson is too awesome, Niemann for closer?
Spending money
If AF has 10-12 million to spend(in total), I would rather he spend that on Soriano and Thames, then 4 million on Fuentes, 6 million on Thome, and 2 million on Kotchman
