Tim Lincecum Signs Multi-Year Deal
This is an imperfect comparison for a number of reasons. Service time when signing, perceived market value, and track record of success not being the least of which ... but it's for fun anyways, so here we go: Tim Lincecum just agreed to a two-year deal worth $23M. Evan Longoria's contract wouln't reach the $23M earned point until 2014.
Lincecum is great. Longoria (with deal in tow) is a heaven-sent instrument of efficiency.

Timmy L may be > than Longoria individually.
But, thanks to Longoria’s contract, the Rays > the Giants.
So the Giants will have to go back to arbitration with him in 2 years?
Or am I wrong about his service time? I’m guessing that if he has year like he did the last few they will try and work out a long term deal after next season.
Boom. Outta Here.

You're correct.
He’s got two arbitration years left after this deal expires.

It's normally three years of near league min. salary then three years of arb, right?
Unless someone is Super 2?
So, if this was his first arb year and they bought this and next year, why does he have two arb. years remaining?
One more year Brett. One more year.

wasn’t he?

Yeah. So if you're super 2 you have two seasons near league min. then 4 years of arb?
One more year Brett. One more year.

Tim Lincecum is also a two-time Cy Young Award winner
With more service time, at that.
