B.J. Upton Loses Arbitration Case; Will Make $3 million in 2010
B.J. Upton is a loser in title only.
As most of us expected, the Rays were successful in their arbitration case against Upton and his representatives. Instead of making the $3.3 million dollars he requested, Upton will have to make due with the Rays $3 million dollar offer. The Rays franchise moves to 5-0 all-time in arbitration cases and 4-0 under Andrew Friedman. Upton joins Josh Paul (twice) and Dioner Navarro as "Friedman'd" in arbitration. One day Upton will laugh about losing out on a mere 300k.

This came to me as as much of a surprise as Brad and Angelina's breaking up
I cried in bed, moaning ‘why, why did this have to happen?’

He'll laugh when he gets his eight-figure contract next year

Doesn't he have another year of arbitration?

He's going to give it up to sign a 5/25 deal with us next off-season

I would gladly take odds on that.

Wow. What will the Rays do with the 300k they saved?
I guess now they can afford to add Huey Lewis to concert nights or maybe KC and the Sunshine band.
Upgrade to Joey Chestnut at FanFest

I thought they were the Sun Life band, now.

That's silly. I'm pretty sure I could find a hitman for around $10,000. They don't need to spend that much.
I miss George Steinbrenner. He was the man responsible for keeping the Yankees competitive.
