OTTOTD 2/4/10: An Open Letter of Apology to Bulls Basketball Fans
Some of you may remember my rant where I said USF would once again be the typical cellar dweller they had been since joining the Big East. Well, i apologize. They are a legit bubble team right now, and if they continue to win BE games they will be in the mix for the touney.
Dominque Jones is the real deal. He's a freaking joy to watch. I check the box scores for the Bulls, and they had been quietly impressing me (even beating a reeling Pitt team). i'd taken notice of 'Nique after his three game stretch prior to the GT game. Then yesterday when I bought Zards tix the guy offered me free GT-USF tix. I decided I wanted to see Nique in person, so I took a friend who's a GT fan so I could rib him all night about "My BULLS!"
It was a great game, and Jones is very impressive. His game reminds me a lot of D Wade. He got to the rack at well and finished. After the game, another friend that joined us sent me this quote from I don't know where
With 1:05 to play and his team leading by eight points and shooting free throws, Jones walked to the crowd and twice bellowed: "Y'all come watch Dominique Jones play!" He flexed his muscles at the final horn and told the local USF radio crew his "heart was beating too fast" to do a postgame interview.
So I apologize Bulls fans. Your team is legit. I'll gladly hop on the USF basketball BW if they make it come March (or whenever they play the Cuse).

I can't even count how many USF hoops games I made my dad take me to as a kid.
He must have hated it, because they were awful. But I had the time of my life. Couldn’t have told you a single player’s name on the current squad until this morning, though. I used to be so obsessed with basketball.

I was telling my friends last night about all the USF games I used to go to.
I am still a big Greenberg fan from my time at his basketball camps.
We probably ran into each other there.
I was the white kid with no ups and a really crummy jumper.

I think I remember you.
Did you have like triplets or quadriplets or millionets? Seemed like there were a few like that.
Uh, no. I was like 11. It wouldn't be for another 9 years that I first had an erection.

Poor joke construction.
I meant it like “there were a bout a million white kids w/ no ups and no jumper.”
TF is a Zard, glass?

So it's a Dungeons and Dragons thing then
figures you’d be into that stuff.

Cuse loves to be hated on
Big Wes eats hate like his name was John Coffee. They poop on your doubts, whether they’re reasonable or not.

I don't think anyone could have seen this coming.
I anticipated that they would continue to become more competitive, but to make the leap to even being in the conversation for the NCAA tournament is mind boggling. Not since the days of B.B. Waldron and Altron Jackson has so much optimism surrounded the Bulls basketball program.
Yeah, they looked like an NIT pick to me to be honest. They're still an NIT pick if they were to draw the tourney today, but they'd be a top seed in the NIT.
I miss George Steinbrenner. He was the man responsible for keeping the Yankees competitive.
Shit, I'm gonna have to go to a game. Props to Hellicksonstine for calling out Jones in the referenced OTT.

He's leading the Big East in scoring in conference play.
At 27 a game he’s making a legit push for BEPOY. In BE play, he’s averaging 27/6.7 RPG/3.6 APG while shooting over 50% from the field and over 75% from the line. He’s been amazing so far.
Wait, what?
When did I do that?

I could have sworn you mentioned him in that thread, but I just went back over it and can't find it. I dunno, maybe it was someone else.
You would’ve been better off just taking credit for it. Now you’ve lost.

I don't care about USF
I don’t care if this guy is next Pistol Pete. USF looked real strong when Cuse beat them by 17. I will admit they’ve come a long way in a short time, but they can bite my bag.

yea I made the mistake of moving to the grand canyon thinking I was getting away from Winter
We’ve already had nearly 100 inches of snow this winter and more coming this weekend.
