Do you guys really think Blalock wouldn't play minor league baseball if no team offers him a spot?

There is no way he make anywhere close to that kind of money doing anything else.

This article seems to suggest it.

Friday's ST game at the Trop

should be against the Minor League All-Stars.

This would ge a great game to see every year.

Minor Notes

http://stacylong.blogspot.com/

Catcher Luke Bailey easily throws the ball back to the pitcher, will soon start throwing to bases and eagerly awaits being able to play without reservation in a real minor-league game.

Bailey was Tampa Bay’s fourth-round draft pick last year, though he was fresh off Tommy John surgery and wouldn’t be able to play until this season.

He said he’ll catch three innings at a time through the end of the Rays’ extended spring training program before joining a short-season team.

i hope you are not referencing me

Control issues are definitely concerning. That’s all I said. No one will see his talent if he isn’t around the plate. He gets back to that, like he has throughout his minor league career and he’ll be just fine. I just hope the growing pains are not too severe once the games actually count.

I never said to trade him, or said he shouldn’t start in the majors. why don’t you save your sarcasm for those who make stupid posts. i don’t need to be lumped in with them.

by raysfaninminnesota on Mar 31, 2010 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions

I just don't understand why the people who run this place have to always act so damn smug

by raysfaninminnesota on Mar 31, 2010 3:17 PM EDT up reply actions

We're criticizing dumb, knee-jerk reactions. What we don't do is discriminate whether or not they're related to declarations of trade.

Also, kind of tired of the ‘why are you guys always jerks to people who disagree’ comment whenever someone criticizes your opinions. You keep pulling that card out EVERY SINGLE TIME. It’s stupid.

alright, fine

i guess i should’ve used a different word. I tried to explain myself elsewhere, so here it is again: it’s just easy to get nervous in ST…especially when you need every break to go your way when you are going up against BOS and NY

ST don’t mean a thing…but you’d like to see a little more out of a guy just starting out. That’s all. No big.

I didn’t mean major concern, although i see how it came across that way. I may not agree with everything around here, but I do try to listen to other people’s sides even if it isn’t my opinion. I just hate smug.

I don't know why the Rays don't get some kind of agreement with their spring training games?

How hard can it be? They’re drawing great attendance down in Port Charlotte, and a lot of us can’t make those games. I’d watch them if they were on TV, and the Rays have been getting strong TV ratings for a while now. Seems like it’s free money that they’re simply not collecting on.
