Report: Rays Made $2 Million Dollar Offer To Jose Julio Ruiz
A few weeks ago, we learned that the Rays were one of several teams interested in Cuban free-agent, Jose Julio Ruiz. For that original report click here. At the time, many felt that a Ruiz signing would happen soon. Nearly a month later, the 25-year-old first basemen remains a free-agent. On Thursday, it was reported that Ruiz switched agents and is now represented by Legacy Sports. Apparently, Ruiz was fed up with the "close to signing" rumors and not getting a deal done.
A new report from the Miami-based El Nuevo Herald, says the Rays were not only interested in Ruiz, but made an offer of nearly $ 2 million dollars. The report also states that the Red Sox and Yankees were/are in are Ruiz, but talks have become stagnant in recent weeks.
New agent, Mike Maulini expressed that he would like to get Ruiz signed as soon as possible. Whether that is with the Rays, or someone else, we just have to wait and see.

WhWell done Tommy
Who is a projectable comparison we can envision him as?
Possibly
Orestes Destrade…honestly, I would think it’s going to be hard to rate a Cuban position player, due to the small amount of scouting available on him. Never know though, could end up being the next Tony Perez.

Someone needs to remind this guy
that New York’s weather sucks, and Tampa has the best Cuban food in the country outside of Miami,
They can also try reminding him that Florida has no income tax while New York has a big one, but something tells me that isn’t even going to really register if someone spent his entire life living in Cuba.
