It's funny reading what Halos Heaven thinks of that trade
SSS has given them false hope. Just like Kaz did for us, you can see the potential, but there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll get injured, or just not have enough control to be a #1. I can’t see Kaz as a “potential ace” anymore. I mean, I guess, MAYBE he could be, but it doesn’t seem likely to me.

It doesn't seem likely to me either, but they have valid points.
Kazmir is most effective when his pitches do what they’re supposed to do and when he has appropriate velocity. If his fastball is in the mid-90s and his slider has bite, combine that with a mediocre change and he’s a good pitcher. If he’s struggling to hit 90 on his fastball, then his slider typically doesn’t have enough movement and while his change improves, it still makes him a worse pitcher overall.
Someone said on there that he never learned to pitch with mediocre stuff; I’d say that’s probably true since all he leans on his fastball a hell of a lot when his slider isn’t working. Kaz has never been a pinpoint-location guy; he’s always been good enough with his location that his stuff takes care of the rest. Without good stuff, he’s Andy Sonnanstine with fewer pitches.
