Minor League Highlights 4/21
AAA Durham Bulls Win 6-5
Joaquin Benoit pitched 1.1 innings of relief with two strikeouts; four of his 13 pitches were whiffed on. Winnie Abreu also pitched a scoreless inning striking out two and generating four swinging strikes. Dan Johnson continued to smoke the ball hitting his 7th home run of the young season on his way to a 1-3 day with two walks. Hank Blalock went 1-6 but hit his first home run of the season. Desmond Jennings was 1-5 with a walk and two steals on the day, while the now right-handed hitting Fernando Perez was 3-5 with a walk and his eighth swiped bag of the season.
AA Montgomery Biscuits Lose 6-5
It's time to hold our breath as Jake McGee left in the third inning with some sort of left leg injury from pushing off the mound (H/T DRB user ega05me). McGee went 2.1 innings allowing a run on two hits and walk while striking out three. McGee induced 6 swinging strikes on his 43 pitches. Pay attention to the comments section for any injury updates.
On the bright side, Nevin Ashley made his debut and went 2-4 with a triple. Drew Anderson was 2-3 with a double and a walk while Cody Strait had a pair of doubles.
A+ Charlotte Stone Crabs
Nick Barnese was hit around a bit giving up five runs on ten hits in four innings, but his peripherals were dyn-o-mite striking out eight and walking just one. 10 of the 17 balls put in play against him went for hits. Tim Beckham went 2-4 with a double and was thrown out trying to steal. Ky Kang was 1-4 with a double, and Mike Sweeney 0-2 with a pair of walks.
A Bowling Green Hot Rods
Wilking Rodriguez made the start and went six innings allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out two. He now has 16 walks to 3 strikeouts on the year. Sadly, the anemic Bowling Green bats let him down amassing just three singles and a walk.

Love Deezy's walks.

Jake McGee update, sort of.
McGee has ‘slight’ leg injury from his start last night which is why Richard De Los Santos has been taken off the Bulls roster, and sent to Montgomery to cover for McGee.
No specifics provided on the injury, but the move of De Los Santos sounded a temporary measure more than anything else. Hopefully McGee only misses a start or two, but that’s purely speculation on my part right now until we hear more.
