Star-divide

-Ryan Shealy has rarely faced LHP this year. If he is a factor in the Rays' future it would be almost exclusively against LHP.

-Fernando Perez is struggling to convert away from being a switch-hitter:

In 2008 batting from the left-side he posted a slash of .280/.364/.341

In 2009 batting as a RHB against RHP his slash is: .221/.261/.298

Thanks FreeZo

On B-Ref it has Beckham at 5 HR&SB, .691 OPS. Are those correct?

by Doug09 on May 23, 2010 8:34 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

I do these on Friday and the data is prob thru Wed games

I’m going to do a column blurb which takes a look at Beckham’s recent hot streak

He's in Durham

Mediocre production, organizationa depth ahead of him and age warranted a drop in favor of some other guys farther from the majors right now

Ok, gotcha

He’d been doing pretty well earlier in the season, I was just making sure he hadn’t gotten injured or something.

by News Fedora on May 23, 2010 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions

To what do you attribute Henry Wrigley`s recent production?

He has been a slow developing non- prospect prior to this year.

Let's see what he'll do at AA

He turns 24 in early August, a bit old for high A ball

He really needs to pick up those BB. I’m guessing a really high BABIP is part of the answer

by sternfan1 on May 23, 2010 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions

FreeZo

How would you feel about adding BABIP to these?

by Vin on May 23, 2010 12:15 PM EDT reply actions

I could

I just don’t think its all that telling at the minor league level. Defense isnt major league caliber, and the pitching isn’t either. Its perfectly normal to have higher BABIPs in the minors than the pros. Even in the pros there is a degree of skill so its most useful to compare to historical norms.

I didn’t realize that was the case, but I guess it makes sense.

Maybe add the league average for each level?

I like that you do this, and I think its cool as hell. I’d just like something to compare the numbers against without having to do any research myself. And if comparing against their BABIP isn’t a good idea maybe lg avgs would be.

And by all means tell me to fuck off if you think I’m being selfish and lazy. I’d understand.

Freezo, are the numbers for Lobaton and Ashley correct?

It’s showing the exact same PA, OBP, SLG

Go Gators!!

And BB%

Seems to be off somewhere or else that is the coincidence of the year
