AAA Durham Bulls Off-Day
Jason Cromer will be rejoining the Bulls. The Strandman has missed the season-to-date with an injury.
AA Montgomery Biscuits L 3-0
David Newmann allowed just one unearned run on nine hits and no walks in 6.1 innings. Newmann struck out five and 9 of 12 batted outs came on the ground. Newmann induced just three whiffs on 93 pitches. Nevin Ashley managed to get one of the Biscuits three hits, while Matt Sweeney went 0-4 with a strikeout. The opposing pitcher Austin Biebens-Dirkx allowed two hits in seven innings and has recorded a CD which can be heard here.
Heath Rollins was demoted from Durham to Montgomery.
A+ Charlotte Stone Crabs L 10-4
Joe Cruz borrowed a bit of Matt Moore's luck allowing seven runs on ten hits in five innings despite striking out eight and walking none. 10 of 17 batted balls went for hits. Sergio Espinosa allowed 3 runs, 1 earned, on four hits in three innings. Espinosa struck out one and 6 of the 7 batted outs were on the ground. Although the Crabs were held to five hits, Leslie Anderson went 3-3, while Matt Joyce was 1-4 with a double. Tim Beckham was 0-4 with a walk and committed his 9th error on a throw.
A Bowling Green Hot Rods W 4-1
Wilking Rodriguez was on his game allowing one run on six hits and a walk while striking out eight in six innings. Kirby Yates struck out two and allowed just a walk in two innings of relief. Ryan Wiegand was 2-4 with a triple, while Tyler Bortnick was 1-4 with his 14th double. Julio Cedeno had three hits on the night.
