MInor League Highlights 5/31
AAA Durham Bulls W 9-1
Heath Phillips deserves a tip of the cap for allowing one run in 5.2 innings prior to the trio of RJ Swindle, Joe Bateman, and Winston Abreu slamming the door shut. Offensively, Desmond Jennings returned from a day off by going 3-4 with his seventh double after moving down to the 7th slot in the order. Kelly Shoppach was 1-3 with a pair of strikeouts in his first rehab start. Ryan Shealy, Elliot Johnson, Chris Richard, and Dan Johnson each contributed a multi-hit game.
Matt Joyce was optioned to Durham after completing his rehab stint in Charlotte. Joyce could potentially be called up when Jason Bartlett proves he is healthy.
For an excellent first hand account of Jeremy Hellickson's stuff on Sunday check out Adam Sobsey's piece here. He now has a cutter. I can't wait for Hellickson to get a shot in the bigs.
AA Montgomery Biscuits W 8-4
Alex Torres left the game after 2.2 innings after receiving an assist while fielding a bunt. According to Stacy Long, he tweaked his knee and is expected to make his next start. Chris Nowak won the day going 2-4 with a pair of home runs (4). Nevin Ashley went 1-3 with a pair of walks.
A+ Charlotte Stone Crabs Off-Day
A Bowling Green Hot Rods W 7-6
Wilking Rodriguez allowed four runs on five hits and three walks in five innings while striking out six. Scott Shuman recorded all six off his two innings worth of outs by way of strikeout. Tyler Bortnick reached safely in all five plate appearances with two singles and three walks, while Kyle Spraker was 3-3 with his first home run and a sacrifice fly.
Eli Sonoqui (shoulder) and Dustin Biell (jaw) went on the disabled list.

Isn't the draft in a week? YA DOGGY!
Also, GCL Rays 21st, HV Gades 18th, and Princeton Rays 22nd.
Should be an exciting June.
If the Rays say its 50-50 that Barty is going to the DL
Then he is going to the DL
I wonder who gets the spot, I want Navi cut, Shoppach and Joyce added
but if they just add Shopp, since we face so many lefties and they dont want him playing too often for a while.
Of course, Ruggiano is a possibility as is Dan Johnson as we are not lighting it up at 1B/DH
Well Rafael Soriano and Joquain Benoit is very nice also.
