Report: Justin Ruggiano Heading to Tampa Bay to Replace Gabe Kapler

Stay connected for news and updates

We cannot confirm this rumor yet, but sources (site member sstamour) have told us that Durham Bulls outfielder, Justin Ruggiano, is on a plane heading to Tampa Bay to replace Gabe Kapler. There is no report as to the reason for the move, be it injury or DFA.

Kapler, with a ,270wOBA, is not having his best season. He's a personal favorite of a number of Rays' fans due to his personality on and off the field. If Kapler is indeed cut, we wish him all the best.

Justin Ruggiano is currently hitting .291/.380/.406 in Durham. He's had previous experience with the big league club in 2007 and 2008, compiling 96 at bats.

We'll update you with you as information becomes available.

Update: Kapler to 15 day DL with hip flexor.
