Vogt is getting a lot of starts in LF right these days.
It looks like they’re trying to find a new role for him going ahead within the org. Perez hasn’t yet adapted to hitting purely right-handed for the Bulls, it can’t be easy to change from being a switch hitter this late on, but he’ll need to if he wants to get that 4th outfielder spot over the next couple of years.
What is the scouting report on Vogt?
I know he is old for A+ and is repeating it, although he only got 35 ABs there last year and has only been a pro for 4 years, essentially moving up one level per year if we ignore those 35 ABs. (Was he injured? I don’t recall.)
He hit for a decent average and walked quite a bit in his other 2 years, showing some doubles power in 2008. He also makes contact, walking as often as he strikes out. The day I saw him earlier this year he was the best hitter on the field; every AB resulted in a screaming line drive.
I suppose he has little future, but wonder what the Rays think of him.
