Minor League Highlights 6/22
AAA Durham Bulls L 9-1
Heath Philiips allowed 8 earned runs in 5.1 innings including four home runs. Phillips has now allowed 16 home runs in 91.1 innings on the season. Desmond Jennings was 2-5 with his fourth triple, while Dan Johnson, Matt Joyce and Joe Dillon also reached successfully twice.
AA Montgomery Biscuits W 4-3
Alex Torres struggled with his control allowing two runs on three hits and six walks while striking out three in five innings. Torres generated just 3 whiffs out of 91 pitches but 7 of 9 batted outs were grounders. Emeel Salem went 2-4 with his second home run of the week despite not hitting any since 2007 in Hudson Valley. Leslie Anderson belted his 2nd home run in AA as part of a 1-4 effort. Nevin Ashley also went 1-4 with his third triple. Cody Cipriano was 2-3 with his ninth double and a walk, while Matt Sweeney was 1-3 with a walk.
A+ Charlotte Stone Crabs Gm 1 L 1-0
Nick Barnese took a hard luck loss going all seven innings and allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out two. Tim Beckham went 0-3 with two strikeouts, while his teammates managed just three hits
A+ Charlotte Stone Crabs Gm 2 W 7-1
Chris Andujar pitched five innings of one-run baseball allowing two hits and a walk while recording zero strikeouts. Reid Fronk and Stephen Vogt each had a pair of hits including triples, while Ky Kang was 1-2 with his eighth double. Tim Beckham was 0-3 with a strikeout.

If so, put him at lead off with his OBP skills and let him alone
He should have more power than Gardner
And Gardner’s hit rate right now is a bit flukey. Drop his average to a more normal .300, and his stats are still nice, but not quite so impressive.
