On the Bright Side

The pen pitched four and a third innings last night without allowing a baserunner. They've been good. Real good. This image says just about everything you can say about them:

Here's five other tidbits:

  • Soriano has a 16:1 Shutdown to Meltdown ratio.
  • Cormier is the only reliever with a 1:1 SD:MD ratio.
  • Benoit is the only reliever without a meltdown (well, and James Shields).
  • Cormier is also the only reliever with a negative WPA.
  • Benoit has a 17% whiff rate. Stephen Strasburg has a 17.2% whiff rate.

Every pitcher, but Corms with a K:BB > 3.33 is outstanding

See, thats trolling

You’re not leaving mods much choice. I have as much tolerance as anyone but you’re getting close to a time out.

is it sarcasm? Yes

but think about it, the bullpen is doing great and we still have lost 5/6, so my statement isn’t that out of line

This post was specific to the bullpen

If it was a game recap, fair enough but the comment had no more relevence than saying, “Too bad Beckham is a bust”

i disagree--the thread speaks of a bright spot

obviously alluding to the team’s recent slide

but i’m going to take a break anyway at this point, at least for a while

The same comment or gist isn't equally suitable in every single thread throughout the day

This piece addressed nothing but the pen. If you wanted to troll on Cormier it woudl have been fair. The offense, not as much.

Put him in the corner until the AS Break

Therefore, I should be ignored completely, because I’m a blithering idiot.

When John Jaso strikes out twice in a game, he becomes Kohn Kaso, which is Spanish for "with cheese."

Unfortunately bullpen coming in to keep games close and not hold leads

Over past six weeks how many innings have Rays been leading? Not too many. Seems like always uphill battle; good example was last night. We need offensive help. I like Pena but sporadic hot streaks and sub .200 batting average not helping team. BJ is a complete disaster offensively and Navi is a joke. Maybe Desmond Jennings and Joyce need an opportunity? How about S Rod playing center field a few games?

Attention Deficit Disorder?

I guess Jennings strikes out, gets picked off frequently, and makes poor decisions on base paths eg. attempting to steal third with one out and Longoria at bat? Jennings numbers over past ten days are encouraging but obviously a small sample size.

He had a bum wrist, swinging a bat is hard when your wrist is hurt.
