MLH 6/29

AAA Durham Bulls W 7-5

Virgil Vasquez made his return allowing three runs on seven hits, while striking out four and walking none in five innings. Aneury Rodriguez picked up the win in his return to the pen despite mediocre results. Winston Abreu struck out the side in the ninth to earn the save. Desmond Jennings continued his scorching June going 2-5 with his first home run of the season off Edison Volquez. Justin Ruggiano (13) and Fernando Perez (6) each contributed a double while going 1-4, while Dioner Navarro walked twice and got beaned by a 102 MPH fastball by Aroldis Chapman in his Durham debut.

Dan Johnson, Elliot Johnson, and Joe Dillon were named to the All-Star team, while Jeremy Hellickson will pitch in the Futures Game.

AA Montgomery Biscuits L 2-1

Jeremy Hall pitched six strong innings allowing a run on just two hits and a walk while striking out five. Matt Gorgen took the loss in relief after allowing a home run in the 8th inning. Henry Wrigley was 2-4 with a double (1), while Cody Cipriano added his 10th two-bagger.

Alex Torres, Jeremy Hall, Darin Downs, Matt Gorgen, and Drew Anderson were named to the all-star team. Nevin Ashley's name is a bizarre omission.

A+ Charlotte Stone Crabs W 6-0

It was another strong effort by Joseph Cruz pitching seven shutout innings allowing five hits and three walks while striking out seven. Shawn O"Malley was a stud going 4-5 finishing a home run shy of the cycle (2 2B, 3B). Reid Fronk added his fourth triple. Kyeong Kang was 1-3 with his 9th double and a walk, while Tim Beckham finished 2-4.

A Bowling Green Hot Rods L 4-2

Kirby Yates allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four in five innings. Chris Murrill and Tyler Bortnick each went 2-4, with Murrill hitting his 11th double. Ty Morrison added two walks.

Sounds like a nerve disorder

The caller said the boy, after removing the bulb from its socket, left the building and threw the bulb on the ground. When the bulb broke, the caller said the boy screamed "I am the cat and I am here to steal."
