Per Marc Topkin:
LHP Jake McGee on way to St. Pete, won't be added to Rays roster until Tuesday.
I'm unclear exactly why McGee won't be added until tomorrow (possibly because he pitched last on Saturday, and Price is also a hard-throwing lefty?) but no matter - he's coming! Depending how well he performs down the stretch, my assumption is that he will challenge Jeremy Hellickson for the final spot in the Rays' postseason bullpen.
McGee's main asset is his fastball - he pounds the ball in at a high velocity and with plus movement. He also works a curveball, although that needs refining and is used sparingly. For the most part, expect McGee to be pumping the heat, working it around the plate with his good command (only three walks in 15 innings pitching in Triple-A) and blowing batters away.
I'm excited to see what McGee can do, especially against lefties. Hopefully, this is the end of Randy Choate facing any right-handed batter, ever (or close to it).
Update: Per TBO_Rays:
Rays recall lhp Jake McGee and option rhp Mike Ekstrom to Durham after 1-0 win against Yankees.
