All four games are scheduled to begin at 7:10 PM, but tonight's game will be delayed a half hour due to the unveiling of George Steinbrenner's plaque in Monument Park.
Thursday, September 23: David Price (3.50 FIP) vs. C.C. Sabathia (3.58 FIP)
This series features all the same match-ups as last week, with the added bonus of a Wade Davis / AJ Burnett face-off. The Rays enter a half game behind the Yankees, meaning they need to win three of the four games to leave New York with the division in hand. Considering how close the games between the Rays and Yanks have been this season, though, winning the series will be difficult. A split is much more likely.
If the Rays don't win this series, there's still hope for the division title. After this series, it's easy sailing into the playoffs - the Rays face Seattle, Baltimore, and Kansas City in their final three match-ups. The Yankees have a tougher road to hoe, playing six games against Boston and three against the Blue Jays. If the Rays can leave New York with a series split and only a half a game behind the Yankees, they should be able to take the division down the stretch.
Anyway, we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves. These will likely be fierce, hotly contested games - some of the best baseball you'll watch all year. Win or lose, I can't wait to watch.
