OTTOTD: Well, the Succaneers are back.
- Davin Joseph might be our only above average offensive linemen and he's not even being used to his full potential. Trueblood's blocks as well as menstrual fluid, Vincent has heavy ankles, Faine gets no push, and Penn is a lightweight. Part of it may have to do with our system -- Joseph, Faine, and Zuttah are all the type of interior linemen that should be pulling into space. The zone system was supposed to make blocking assignments easier, but it's become apparent that it does not our fit talent level. Vincent, Penn and Trueblood aren't quick enough to execute it.
- Freeman was rattled all day and I don't think it had anything to do with the pass rush. There were plenty of opportunities for The Motherfuckin' Time to get into his drop and pick out a pass, but the Steelers' coverage was confusing him. LeBeau must have used five different looks in the second drive alone, using stunting linemen, mixed zone/man coverage (including Polamalu doing shit like picking up a wide receiver), and crossing blitzers. After that drive, Freeman was very timid about his throws, often pushing the ball out of his hand in hesitation instead of actually following through with his mechanics. I'm not sure the playcalling helped either. Most of our success came with crossing patterns and shorter routes -- Free's beautiful rollout, side-armed pass to Mike Williams comes to mind. Yet for extended periods in the game, three receivers would be running intermediate to long routes, all 12 yards are further down field.
- Kellen Winslow's catch on the sideline between Lamar Woodley and the safety was absurd.
- No pass rush whatsoever today. The only time I can remember our defensive line penetrating was Gerald McCoy getting the best of his man, forcing Batch up into the pocket.. and then Batch beat Cody Grimm today. Raheem wasn't nearly creative enough with his blitz package. Once Batch threw the opening interception, the Steelers went max protect and it came down to individual match ups in the secondary.
- Which we lost. Cody Grimm getting beat deep when he had a chance to make a play, Talib deflecting a sure interception on a terrible throw into Mike Wallace's hands, Ronde getting beat on the sideline and not catching up to the receiver... Lose the majority of your 1v1 situations and you're probably going to lose the game.
- Also, Connor Barth couldn't abort his own baby by kicking his wife in the stomach. What a pussyfoot.

I missed the game coming back from NYC, but had one of the key sources to my information network providing me with updates
Sounds like we would have been better off coming out of the tunnel and having a 53 man shit-off on the field. Trueblood could easily just lay down and win, he’s fucking miserable at his job.
Hell yeah it is.
Any amount of points can be scored week to week. well, besides 1 point. Any number is as likely to be reached as another, since there’s only one of each number, each has the same chance to be hit. IT’s how the syetemof averages works.

My favorite was when he got away with a clear hold while Freeman was scrambling to the right side.
His man got by him and instead of just going with the momentum and driving the defender out of the play, Trueblood grabbed hold of the guy’s shirt. Somehow it was not called, but enough’s enough. He doesn’t even play well when we win. Put Zuttah at right tackle.
He's pretty gritty, while Zuttah seems lazy and doesn't try all that hard.
Hell yeah it is.

Also forgot to mention the Blount was extremely impressive.
Picking up positive yards without particularly great holes, running through arm tackles, carrying defenders. Runs with real violence. Which isn’t surprising, considering:

Yes. The Mike Williams fumble was the nail in the coffin.
Thought Raheem should have challenged it, not sure why he didn’t bother. That was a pretty crucial turning point, especially considering we were driving (despite Davin Joseph’s completely retarded holding call — he literally just blocked the man.)
Well when you play the Steelers you have to play the refs as well, this is nothing new.

that was one of the top 5 worst experiences ive ever had at RJS yesterday, in 26 years.
I don’t think Free had a horrible game. Two turnovers were the fault of his receivers.
Grimmbergen turns around on that TD and who knows. Talib tips that ball to the side instead of up and who knows.
What really concerns me, beyond Ruud’s continued awfulness, is that neither line made a real impact all day. McCoy was getting single man blocked by whoever #69 is for Pittsburgh. Batch had all day against a too young/too old/too dumb secondary. And Trueblood needs to get harpooned.

Ah, forgot to mention Ruud.
Like I said to you yesterday, I’m sick of watching him try to get sideline to sideline. Our playside DEs and LBs all pick up their blockers, string the play wide and Ruud is no where in site to clean up. Get through the trash and get to the ball — that is literally the MLB’s number one job and Ruud fails at it almost every week. We’ve got some nice pieces on defense, but we’ll never be a great unit until we get a real playmaker.
I’d rather see Geno in there and get another physical OLB to play the weakside.
Whichever stud that's currently killing it at The U should be a top priority

my understanding is if i put 0, i get more on my paycheck
may owe a little bit in january… if i put 1, i lose more on my weekly paycheck, but prolly gain some come january… this is only for a part-time job btw.
If you put 0, they take no income tax. If you're making decent money, it literally means you're paying thousands back in taxes.
Putting 1 dependent has them take the most out; they take less the higher the number.

If you make less then the taxable amount ($5,500 if you're single or $13,000 if you're a couple), you don't pay any taxes.
So you’d put 0 so the government doesn’t take any.
Or, if you’ve got ADD, you don’t mind saving 20% of your paycheck each week to pay for your taxes at the end of the year.

and i guess i shouldn’t claim head of household… since i don’t pay more than 50% to keep it running, even tho my health insurance guy does claim me HoH….?
You can't technically claim your brother if he doesn't live with you or if he's paying more than 50%
That being said, not adhering to that rule happens often. You’d have to be concerned if you get audited though, as the government will make you both pay tax differences and penalties for doing it like that. If you want to try to find ways to legally manage those circumstances, you’d be better suited seeing an accountant.

Meh, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I can’t recall him getting abused in pass protection and he’s being underutilized as a run blocker. Gruden may have been a shit head, but Davin was born to play in his offense. The current system doesn’t take near enough advantage of his mobility.
Fuck, if we’re going to keep up with it next year, trade Penn for some picks and move Davin back LT. If he’s gonna cut block and shit, he won’t get exposed out there by better DEs like he did in college.
Side note: I get really frustrated when I watch the Dolphins put Jason Allen out against receivers and refuse to play bump and run with him.
The kid was a monster bump and run corner in college, yet somehow the Dolphins have never used him as such despite drafting him. Fucking insane.
