What is FIP?
As part of the budding Sabermetrics Primer month, I've begun a video series aimed at explaining a variety sabermetric principles and statistics. The first is FIP: A New ERA, feature below. Watch it and let me know what you think! Also, tell me what other videos you would like to see.
Enjoy!

Awesome stuff.
Short and concise, yet it touches upon all the important points. I love visuals, and this takes it to a whole different level. Can’t wait to see more!
I love Casey Fossum. Now try and take me seriously.

"All right, you ragtag bunch of misfits! You hate me, and I hate you even more. But without my beloved ringers, you're all I've got. So I want you to remember some inspiring words that someone else might have told you over the course of your lives, and go out there and win!"

J.P.
Hell yeah it is.
Any amount of points can be scored week to week. well, besides 1 point. Any number is as likely to be reached as another, since there’s only one of each number, each has the same chance to be hit. IT’s how the syetemof averages works.

I agree...
although I’m not going to go around punching people for mentioning ERA.

This comment needs crosshairs shopped on the foreheads of the local fishwrap writers and subtle allusions to weapons use to get your point across.

The Scorer being the Forever Alone guy = brilliant.
Very well done. Hope it is the first of many.

Thanks, I worked hard on it.
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
Really, you should do this for the site that shalt not be named.

I have already sent it on to a friend
who has complained that sabermetrics are too complicated for him to follow.
This is probably the greatest thing ever posted on the site.
If John Jaso somehow strikes out, it means you didn’t do your job right as an umpire.

That was fantastic.
I laughed my ass off and sent it to a few friends. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
wOBA is in the plans for sure.
I’ve got 3 FIP videos planned, 2 pitcher luck videos (LOB% and HR/FB), and BA, OBP, SLG, and finally wOBA — all in the works.

Oh my God.
This is easily the greatest thing I’ve seen on the internet today.
Between Yuniesky and the luck dragon I about lost it.

The pitcher is obviously a Confederate officer.
What’s your agenda here?
Hahaha!
He’s actually an off-brand Brian Wilson. So, yeah, pretty much a rebel.

I know, right?!
I’m about to murder my cheap little mic. I made this video at zero cost to myself, so that’s a hard price to beat — but I really could use some better sound equipment. :(
