If the Rays cannot get Price to sign to a long term deal, and in recognition of the money he will receive in arbitration in the years to come, would it be so bad to trade away (possibly) our best starter for some serious offensive help? What would it take for you as a GM to give up David Price? It's something that's never thrown out there, probably because Price has one cheap year left, but I'd like to hear them. My scenario would be something like David Price and Tim Beckham prospect for LoMo and Mike Stanton.

If you scoff at the idea of trading David Price, refer back to this FanGraphs post... It's not a crazy idea, really. Shields is cost controlled and a pretty reliable starter.
