Democrats, Libertarians lose ground
The Associated Press

The number of registered Democrats and Libertarians in Alaska has declined over the last year while the number of Republicans and independents grew.

That’s according to the state Division of Election, which updated its voter registration rolls earlier this month.

The division says there are about 2,200 fewer Democrats than there were in March 2010 and about 1,100 fewer Libertarians. The number of registered Republicans grew by nearly 3,100 and there were more than 6,300 more undeclared or nonpartisan voters.

The largest voting bloc in the state remains those who are unaffiliated with any party.

In an interview with WEZS Radio in Laconia, New Hampshire, Tuesday, the former Republican Pennsylvania senator said abortion rates are influencing the number of children born in the United States and there are therefore not enough children to support the program long-term.

“The Social Security system in my opinion is a flawed design, period. But having said that, the design would work a lot better if we had stable demographic trends,” Santorum said. “A third of all the young people in America are not in America today because of abortion.”

The obvious solution is to increase the number of children in the country by outlawing abortion. This won’t have any other effect at all.

the plot is merely very good.

the cinematography is literally the greatest ever put to film. can a film have a strong point? yes.
there is little dialogue in order to convey the feeling of meeting native americans and having no language or communication in common with them. and also being overwhelmed with the potential of this new continent.

I did smoke an entire pack during ALCS G7 2008, though, felt like shit the next day, but was so nervous/anxious

And I’ll smoke a bit more if I’m drinking, though that factors into the half a pack a day. I’ll get 5 cartons and sell 25 of the 100 packs for $4 a piece and make my money back and still have 75 packs for myself which should last until about September.

This is true. He also never had more than thirty five yards rushing in a game. Maybe if he played behind a dominant offensive line he could be good, but he doesn’t have the power to break tackles or the vision to create like Sanders did. His attributes will never be highlighted with that team.

What would his YPC have to be not to be labeled a bust next year. Fred Jackson nearly averaged half a yard more per carry last year. If C.J. doesn’t start busting out a long run here and there he is worthless.

You only get two or three years to prove yourself in the NFL.

Production is all that matters. The fact Spiller was drafted in the top ten will buy him another two years, but that’s about it. His play was weak last year and I don’t see how you anyone didn’t see it as a disappointment. He needs to improve dramatically to earn the type of money he is being paid.

My comment on Spiller’s window is based more on Ralph Wilson and Gailey than anything else. They have shown they will dump underperformers for 20 cents on dollar. Why would Spiller be different?

We’d have to know how it would be handled if a player is cut under new CBA. Is it accelerated like it used to be? dollar for dollar against cap in future years?

If its only guaratneed for skill, or roster bonus, he’ll be gone unless he produces. Or he can re-structure. We’re all just guessing.

Spiller will never be more than a 15-17 touch guy (on average). Most guys in the NFL arent either

I think LC's point is when you are looking for comparisons

CJ has more in common with Bush, K Faulk Woodhead, Washington, and others than AP, MJD, TJ. Its not an exact science, but from a comparison sake, his game, which is NCAA football and one year of limited NFL football., he looks like Bush, a valuable commodity if used right at the right price. Doesnt mean he wotn turn into CJ.

If he doesn’t play well next year, there will be lots of people calling him a bust. I think he can be a good player in the right situation, but most Bills fans I know think he is going to be Chris Johnson and he simply isn’t going to be. He isn’t as good and he isn’t in an ideal situation like Johnson is/was.

Virtually every draft report I read on Spiller projected him as never being a feature back in the NFL.

Feel free to go look it up for yourselves. He split time carrying the ball in college with James Davis. He is not an effective runner between the tackles and never has been. If you can’t see that I don’t know what to tell you.. Calling me a dumbass for telling you that you are wrong is fine, but just realize that most people that are considered “experts” agree with me and not you.

As I said Spiller would be good with a premium offensive line

which is what Washington had with the Jets. He averaged 3.7 and couldnt hardly get on the field last year with the Seahawks. Maybe selling overpriced tin cans and cherrypicking stats is more your speed.

A 1,000 yard season is not the bench mark it used to be

and is fairly attainable. Blount reached 1,000 yards on just two hundred carries last year. How many carries will Spiller get next season and how many yards will he amass. Let’s hear a prediction from well respected analysts Ryan Gilliss and rglass44.

I’ll say 180 carries for 600 yards and four TDs. 35 catches for 225 yards and another two TDs.

I can prmise the other "guarantee" wasnt all signing bonus.

Not handled that way in the league anymore. But point taken.

Of the $20 guaranteed, I’d say $8-10 was signing, another $4.5 was roster bonus year 1, $3 in year 2, and the rest guaranteed for injury and skill.

Here’s both sides. A player making alot of money seems to be given a job but the team has to pay that money. Is it better to pay that money over the life of the deal, or cut him, not pay the money but have it hit cap all in year he is cut. You can argue either side.

If you want him to be succesful, you dont want him seeing the majority of his touches on 1st down as the deep back

I would be very surprised if Jackson doesn't get most fo the work load next season.

I’m not I won’t be wrong and I’ve definitely been wrong before, but if Spiller was catching on and playing well his carries should have increased (and Jackson’s decreased) throughout the season.That didn’t happen. I suppose an argument could be made that the season was already in the toilet and they didn’t want to spoil him, but I don’t think thats the case with Spiller.

They were still way better than Spillers

and the decrease wasn’t that much. Total yardage was down, but he also got less carries. He also had a career high in TDs, although five isn’t anything to get excited about.

In college? Sure, because he was a better athlete than 95% of competition. Not true at NFL level.

Spiller can’t outrun everyone. He’s a bigger threat than Bush out of the abckfield, but he isnt a true running back. Kick returns, punt returns, swing pass, screen he’s go to guy. 1st and 10, not so much. He has to change his mentality from run away to run through and using most scatbacks as an example, it’s a tough change.

It's impossible to accurately gauge it, but you can start to draw inferences.

I don’t think he’ll ever be a 25 carry guy. I think 15 touches spread amongst special teams and running back works best. Teams need two RB’s now and to pair him up with any other viable back is best for him and team.

This is just a personal observation and probably has no bearing

but when I watch rookie or 2nd year backs, I’m not looking at result of play, but whether or not they make the right read or take it as called or try to bounce everything. You can get big plays by bouncing it, but its not a good practice.

You keep them in the round they were previously drafted. So if I steal a guy worth a keep for a FA claim (I’m looking at Smoak or Gordon here, primarily), then it’s worth more than a guy that will just be in my lineup until Morales comes back.

From what I saw, they kept him on the bench through the first five games and by that point teams were keyed that the Bills had no passing game whatsoever

The line and WR were awful, though once Fitzy started playing at least they had someone with some heart back there. To write a guy off in limited time on a bad team is just as bad as saying that he’s a future hall of famer based on his college career. I think you’ll see big things out of him once he gets a bit smarter and the talent around him gets better. In the mean time he’ll run back punts and maybe kicks if some sally kicker can’t get the ball in the end zone from 30 yards away. The arrogance of Lee Caz and Bruce Wiled is outstanding, slurp some more dick, funboys

On a one year, finite look, do you want to argue that his production was equal to contract?

They were a bad team that had to throw 50 times a game to attempt comebacks. I get that. I dont think he’s a bust. I dont think he’s top 10 either. Hes a young guy on a bad team that didnt use him the way they should have. I blame coaching and utilization more than talent level.

Who's a 25- carry guy?

That’s 400 a year and the league leader was Arian Foster with 327 last year. Technically I guess Larrry Johnson is the best running back of all time since his 416 is the most in a season. If you didn’t see the guy play then don’t resort to cliche and statistics. NFL is completely a visual scouting league. I put no stock in the handful of plays you saw against tough divisional opponents and an equally tough OOC schedule.

Saw 5 or 6 games last year. Full games.

Maybe I should have said 25 offensive touches, not 25 carries. Spiller can be a weapon is he is used right. With their offensive set up last year, it wasnt happening. If they run the same offense this year, it wont happen. If you want to argue semantics, thats fine, but we both know he isnt gonna be anything if his OC and HC dont allow him to use his talents. Dont ask him to be a grinder, dont ask him to be short yardage.

Again, I think that's a very big 'if'.

A-Rod and Jeter will continue to regress. Posada is a walking injury case, and relying on Russell Martin is pretty sketchy. Their outfield will be great, though.

I think A-rod could have a pretty good year. Jeter gets a bunch of crap and he is regressing, but he will still put up a solid OBP

Jeter had a career year 2 years ago and was the ebst SS in the AL by a mile.

Last year ina down year he was 3rd (behind Pennington on the weight of a +10 defensive season at SS).

I think people are underestimating what A-Rod’s hip did to him last year. You could see in his play that itw as an issue. It’s supposed to be better. I expect a bounce-back from he and Tex. I see no reason to think Tex last year was anything but an aberration.

He had the same surgery that Utley had and Utley is now having problems with his knee

They both patched up their bone on bone issue instead of getting it properly fixed.

They have the same injury that a lot of butterfly-style goalies are getting in the NHL

They can either properly clean it up by going in and shaving the bones between the ball and socket joint of the hip, or they could do what they both did which was more of a temporary patch. The former requires a year layoff, the latter does not guarantee to fix the problem.

You're kidding, right? Reddick should be a good glove that they can plug in, but Lowrie's problem has been injuries not ability

He can play every infield position and had a .393 wOBA last year. Way to skip over Kalish and Doubront and not mention any of the guys that I didn’t bring up due to my ignorance

Even if their players are regressing they have a solid baseline to project from

Does any projection system have an honest clue what Reid Brignac, Matt Joyce, Dan Johnson, Sean Rodriguez, John Jaso, Kelly Shoppach, Wade Davis, Jeremy Hellickson, or virtually all of our bullpen is going to do? I believe PECOTA as well as most other systems will err on the side of caution with all of these guys.
