It figures that today is the first time we can watch the Rays on MLB.tv, but they're trotting out a pretty weak team to face Cliff Lee. At this point, though, I'll take anything.
And wait a second....Matt Joyce is batting third against lefty Cliff Lee? I'll be watching those at bats extra carefully.

Lopez is beasting it this spring!
I really hope he makes the team and carries over this hitting.

Well,
considering what I’ve heard from other teams’ fans, he usually carries his hitting over for about a month, then drops off the map the rest of the year, or at least that’s how it seems to the casual fan.
Rays are playing a sloppy game, but that's nothing new

How often does a guy throw a wild pitch then strike someone out?
Get the fuck out Joyce.

Spring Training gameday lies all the time.
They select the minimum number of pitches to get across what happened every time. I doubt it actually went down just like that.
I love Casey Fossum. Now try and take me seriously.

There was a WP in the at bat, he struck out later
But the pitch he struck out on (in a 3-2 count) wasn’t particularly close to being a strike. Swung and missed a a curveball that nearly hit his back foot

Getting worried about the bullpen prospects
It’s going to be tough to make chicken salad out of chickensh*t like Wade, Ekstrom, and Ramos…
It’s starting to get far enough into the pre-season that the off season rust should be shaken off. Some of these guys apparently just suck.
Yeah you can usually tell after like 5 innings pitched.
Good call.

So which crappy relief part is going to blow this game?
Sorry if you think I’m jumping the gun. But the Rays are not looking good right now. The relief pitching appears to the the biggest part, but even Maddon said he was unhappy with the efforts of late.
As I type the Phills have 2nd and 3rd with one out. Whatever. These games “mean nothing”, and the Rays are great. Keep drinking that cool-aid.
I’m not very optimistic at this point.
Brian Baker is not a threat to make the roster

"bullpen prospects"
Wade, Ekstrom, Ramos
So far Farnsworth, Peralta, Cruz, and Hayhurst have secretly amassed an ERA of 0 and two hits.
and if one of them gets hurt what happens
you have to rely on the crap that’s left…
and if I recall, Ekstrom logged some IP with the big club last year, when we had a great bullpen. So he’s a non-consideration now?
There is a difference between optimistic and realistic.
You’re making blind assumptions about two innings of work. Before today Wade and Ramos had 5.1 innings and one hit between them.
I don’t think we relied on Ekstrom last year, and if one of our late inning guys goes down this year I don’t see us relying on him.
I’d argue that our bullpen is in just about the same shape as it was this time last year. The difference being people were excited about our closer, this year he is a sleeper.
What happened?

Probably.
People are dumb.
If John Jaso somehow strikes out, it means you didn’t do your job right as an umpire.
