For all you non-haters, here's an update on Dirk Hayhurst:
@Raynaadi [Hayhurst is] actually pitching in tomorrow’s split squad game at Al Lang Field in St. Petersburg.
Courtesy of @RaysRepublic
Apparently, he’s been pitching in B games, which means we have not data on his performances.

Yeah, that's what it looks like.
As expected, though; he’s coming back from a major injury.

Oh Yields
On the subway today, a man came up to me to start a conversation. He made small talk, a lonely man talking about the weather and other things. I tried to be pleasant and accommodating, but my head hurt from his banality. I almost didn't notice it had happened, but I suddenly threw up all over him. He was not pleased, and I couldn't stop laughing.

RU-SHU is going to be competitive, if not incredibly well-played. And I think the winner plays SJU, and they’re incredibly schizophrenic. RU has played just about everyone close, and SHU has Hazell, I think whichever team wins is going to at least give SJU a good run

They're a total wildcard
They’ve slayed some giants but lost to SHU by 14 and have struggled at times with teams like USF and Cincy. I’d believe them out in the first round and I’d believe them in the elite 8

I'm amazed the BE has 11 top 50 KP teams with SH just outside at 54.
Pretty impressive, and it’s a counter-point to how done the ACC and PAC10 are this year. Half the PAC10 is outside the top 95, and the ACC has the AWFUL Wake at 251 to go with 3 other teams outside the top 85. Pretty awful year for both. The amazing thing? The SEC is even worse. Only one SECW team is in the top 64 with only one more in the top 100.
SECE is good
SECW is awful.
That’s how an avg team like Bama racked up a good conf record
I'm an F18, Bro
Good may be stretching it.
10, 18, 28, 55, 58, and 125 is OK. The SEC’s KP rating is below the other big 5 conferences and the MW.

Watching sausage get made.
Watching this Rays team early in Spring Training will not be pretty. I think it is a public service by MLB to delay having the games on the radio.until all the roster decisions have sorted themselves out.
Schoppachachki finally gets the Rays first hit
bottom of the 4th………. this is spring training, right?
It's too late to put up any guesses?
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
well, almost a run
Kotchman puts men on 1 & 2
wild pitch moves them over, 1 out
Jennings sac fly to right, shoppach gunned down at the plate.
Double play, inning over. dang.
SROD walked, steals second, makes it to 3rd on throwing error
E Johnson walks. 0 out, bottom 6.
THE CORNERS ARE LOADED
Matt Joyce vs LHP with 2 men on?
draws walk, bases loaded
up next: Shoppach, Kotchman, Jennings
Rays still down 0-2
Phenomenal

Bottom 7: Great Pumpkin homers on a 3-2 count
Fuld and Chirinos single to put men on the corners with 2 outs
Tim Beckham ground out. Rays still down 1-2
Cesar Cabral coming in with men on 1&2, 1 out
men move to 2&3 on GO.
2 outs - and Cabral gets the big K

Carter and L Anderson singles fill 1&2, 1 out
Ruggiano, who could use good rep, up against LHP, grounds into double play.
Force out at 3rd, thrown out at 1st. End of 8th. Not pleased.
so not related to todays game but I was reading through this years copy of Bill James' handbook
I didn’t realize but BJ was 2nd in the AL in OBP out of the lead off spot last season. The only guy he was behind was Jaso.
Was it more than 600 PA's? Walk rate would be stable in around 200, but BABIP/BA don't stabilize over 650 let alone whatever number he actually had

I think it was like 150 or something I don't have the book handy on me
I’m not saying it is accurate to what he would do over a whole season, I just found it interesting that even though it was seemingly working it wasn’t something Joe tried more than he did.
I don't mean to come across as snapping at you, but I just think it's silly when people point to batting order numbers as if they mean anything

yea I remember somone interviewing BJ about batting leadoff compared to down in the order

Top 9: fielding error by Vogt in left, man on 2nd
next batter pops out on a bunt. LOL, 1 out
ground out puts man on 3rd, 2 outs
Cabral still pitching — gets 3 called strikes!
to the home half of the 9!
BOTTOM 9, Rays down 1-2
N. Ashley: single, man on 1st
Inglett: sac bunt, 1 out, Ash on 2nd
Vogt: line out to first base.
2 outs, man on 2nd. Chirinos up!
