3 hours and 18 minutes in snow. Thank you outdoor stadiums.
I'll never get tired of typing "Rays win"
Instant recap:
- The Rays went ahead early with a busy 1st inning resulting in 4 runs, all earned.
- Johnny Damon extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a single in the 1st, scoring the first run of the game (Fuld)
- Fransisco Liriano had a short game only going 3 innings and allowing 7 earned runs. This could spell disaster for the twins bullpen going into a double header tomorrow.
- The Rays also had a busy 4th inning when 2 runs were walked in with the bases loaded and no outs (Upton and Damon drew the walks, runs charged to Liriano). Ben Zobrist hit a sac fly to make the score 7-1 before S-Rod grounded into a double play.
- LOLfense in the 7th allowed the 8th Rays run to score on a horrible throw to 3rd base by Cuddyer.
- Davis didn't look particularly sharp but still managed to go 6.2 innings allowing only 2 runs. Ramos got the final out in the 6th.
- Shoppach took a nice shot to the ribs when he ran into the railing near the Twin's dugout in the 8th. Almost immediately afterward Ramos hit Morneau with a pitch (completely unrelated to the railing incident, obviously).
Rays win, lightning win. Good day for Tampa Bay. Double header tomorrow, first game has Hellickson vs Blackburn and 2nd game is Niemann vs UNKNOWN. Big mystery. 1pm and 8pm starts.
