OTTOTD 5/11/2011: The one without talk of the Rays' first basemen.

Effective for this OTTOTD, talk of an unnamed ground-ball hitting player that plays first for the Rays will not be allowed (and I don't mean Dan Johnson).

Please shit up any front page story with discussions about said player.

Hopefully this means I can come to this thread and not see another 100 post thread about the same exact shit that is said every other time it comes up.  (Ignore the fact that this is an ottotd and everything talked about is the same shit that always comes up)

cheaper than old sparkey or lethal injection

I was thinking that, once she is found guilty in a court of law (gotta go along with the Magna Carta and Habeas Corpus and all that good stuff), they tie her up to a telephone pole and ram her with her very own pick-up truck. If she survives, God, gods or whatever higher power out there spared her life. If she dies, it was her time.

A showdown could be brewing between Tampa Bay’s top sports radio station and its most popular host. Steve Duemig, also known as the Big Dog and host of the afternoon drive show on WDAE 620-AM, is in the midst of negotiations for a new deal with the station and the sides do not appear close to an agreement. Duemig’s current deal with WDAE expires on Sunday.

Okay so maybe my logic is terribly misconstrued here but...

If the first ones in are the first ones out, that would mean to me that BW is starting from the top and working his way down, because the first posts made are the first ones being read by BW.

If the last ones in are the last ones out, it means almost the same thing to me. The last posts made would be the last posts read by BW.

Does no one see the correlation here?

Here.
The Department’s Federal Railroad Administration selected 15 states and Amtrak to receive $2.02 billion for 22 high-speed intercity passenger rail projects as part of a nationwide network that will connect 80 percent of Americans to high-speed rail in 25 years. The dedicated rail dollars will:

Make an unprecedented investment in the Northeast Corridor (NEC), with $795 million to upgrade some of the most heavily-used sections of the corridor. The investments will increase speeds from 135 to 160 miles per hour on critical segments, improve on-time performance and add more seats for passengers.
Provide $404.1 million to expand high-speed rail service in the Midwest. Newly constructed segments of 110-mph track between Detroit and Chicago will save passengers 30 minutes in travel time and create nearly 1,000 new jobs in the construction phase. Upgrades to the Chicago to St. Louis corridor will shave time off the trip, enhance safety and improve ridership.
Boost U.S. manufacturing through a $336.2 million investment in state-of-the-art locomotives and rail cars for California and the Midwest. "Next Generation" rail equipment will deliver safe, reliable and high-tech American-built vehicles for passenger travel.
Continue laying the groundwork for the nation’s first 220-mph high-speed rail system in California through a $300 million investment, extending the current 110 mile segment an additional 20 miles to advance completion of the Central Valley project, the backbone of the Los Angeles to San Francisco corridor.

Has a credit card she’s canceling, and she’s switching her checking. Switch to a checking account that actually earns interest. Comment From Matt
when will the Rays stop the Sean Rodriguez experiment and move Zobrist to the infield and free Desmond Jennings
12:09
Jonah Keri: Geez, I have a lot to say about the way the Rays are botching their roster management right now. Part of it comes from simply lacking talent at a bunch of positions. But starting Andy Sonnanstine makes no sense, carrying 12 pitchers when the other 4 starters all go deep into games and the Rays have needed fewer RP innings than 28 other teams, demoting Brandon Guyer when he may be a legit RH power bat (exactly what they need), after homering in his 1st MLB AB no less, also makes no sense.

As for Jennings — and maybe Guyer and others — the Rays will never call up a position player prospect (nor a pitching prospect for more than a fill-in start or two), unless they feel he’s 100% ready. Jennings has a .400+ OB at Triple-A, but he’s still not hitting for a ton of power. With the service time issue being so pivotal for them (see also Joyce and Hellickson having to wait too long last year), this is what Rays fans must frustratingly expect. Even as their starting SS has zero extra-base hits, first base is a disastrous regression implosion waiting to happen, The Legend of Sam Fuld dims, and catcher’s icky too.

It's kind of a misnomer when Rochester has always been a city for higher tech jobs than say Buffalo, Cleveland, or Detroit

Kodak, Xerox, Bauch & Lomb and now we’re seeing a lot of telecommunications jobs taking off here. Also, Paytek and Paychex are rapidly growing companies owned by billionaires. Thanks to U of R and RIT as well as many other very good schools around here there’s actually a lot of technology in the area.

Was at Bells this past weekend.

They have just finished a complete remodel of their brewpub. I strongly suggest the Expedition Stout, Hopslam, and the Winter White.

Hopslam is generally considered one of the best double IPAs in the world. Also, if you have time go to the generals store next store and pick up a 6er of Batch 10,000. It’s not available on tap. It’s amazing and can be cellared indefinitely.

Yeah, Im not usually a fan of double IPAs, but its fucking amazing.

Aside from low cost of living, one of the only good things about living in this area of the country is the amazing brewpubs in driving distance — Three Floyds, Goose Island, New Holland, Bells, just to name a few.

He had 26 last year.

My team was composed in such a way that I was expecting to be able to use steals as a trade chip. I had Crawford, Span, Desmond, Pagan, Figgins, Veneable, and Crisp. I should be blowing everyone away in steals. Instead, I’m sitting in 3rd place in the league. I mean, I’m still competitive in the category, but with that roster, I should have stomped everyone. Instead, Pagan is hurt, Figgans, Crawford, and Span aren’t doing anything, and I have to absorb Desmond and Crisp’s atrocious OBP because they’re the only ones getting swipes. I’d still have Venable too if I could fit him on my roster, but I’ve got too many injuries.

I had Andrus last year and traded him to Toppah right as this happened, I think he managed to get about 10 steals out of him for half a season, I had gotten something like 25.

The caller said the boy, after removing the bulb from its socket, left the building and threw the bulb on the ground. When the bulb broke, the caller said the boy screamed "My electrolytes are down after the workout today…I fail"
