Much to the delight of Rays fans, Longo should hopefully be back as early as tomorrow. Could this be the end of Lopez's tenure with the Rays...at least for this time around? Luckily Rodriguez seems to be ready (post injury) to fill the spot at third if Longo isn't back. Here's the kicker though: do the Rays move Lopez, Kotchman, or one of the Johnson's back down to make room on the roster?
Personally, I'd like to see Lopez moved just by virtue of the thought that he doesn't really seem to fit the Rays team chemistry. He's already received at least one talking to regarding his lack of hustle. Granted Dan Johnson hasn't really done anything to secure his spot on the roster, yet I'd think that his potential gives him a better chance of staying on the roster even if he gets used primarily as a pinch hitter. Besides, we know what he can do. Johnson also seems more like an asset than a liability than Lopez.
Kotchman, both offensively and defensively, has done a good job so far. I mean hell, he's benefited the Rays more than Lopez even when he's consistently hit singles, and the occasional double or homer.
