A sad goodbye to Corey Wade
Is any else watching the box scores showing how well Corey Wade is pitching for the Yankees, and dying a little inside?
I am.
Corey was pitching brilliantly at Durham, with an era under 1.30 and a sparkling SO/W ratio. Considering the struggles of the Rays bullpen, and the fact that Wade has had success at the major league level, I kept expecting the Rays to give him a chance. Say, for Andy Sonnanstine, who never pitches?
Instead, and probably at his request, the Rays released Wade, who signed with the Yankees. Five near-perfect outlings later, Wade has become a steady arm in the Yankees shaky pen. Yes, it's early, and 5 outings does not a season make. But considering our bullpen's struggles, wouldn't we rather he be doing this with a TB on his hat?
