OTTOTD for 6/7/2011: Thoughts with DPIR 2.0

Okay, so here's what's up. A friend and I got into an argument last night. It stemmed from something stupid so I'll hit on the key points here. My friend was arguing that if you grew up in poverty that there was little to no chance that you would be able to get out of it, no matter how hard you worked. I believed that this statement was ludicrous and argued against it. Sure, they resources may not be there to help you out as much as I guess a wealthy family would have, but still you would have the opportunities if you put your mind towards a specific goal.

She also insisted that the hardest working workers in 'Merica are the ones making the least amount of money. Again, I debated this statement, thinking it foolish that she would even say something like that. I guess she believes that most millionares were silver-spooners, and that may very well be the case. However, that doesn't mean they didn't work hard for their money, does it?

There's more to the story, but I'll leave it out since it really isn't important. We're still pissed off at each other.
