If this doesn't survive MLB's copyright nonsense, I'll try and post it on vimeo.

Mentioned this late last night on Twitter, he may have been tipping pitches
He sort of pumps his hand into his glove on fastballs and it didn’t look like he did on the breaking balls. The camera angles were tough to tell, but when he tips his glove in warm-ups to indicate breaking ball, I don’t think he did it for that.

Saw about 6 pitches
Great production ESPN, the hottest GD pitching prospect in the game and you show nothing from this appearance. What a joke

and that would be different from the rest of MLB how?
ESPN has become a fat, no major competition lack of motivation, lazy piece of shit. They come across as “We’re ESPN”. They don’t really try anymore. They lack ambition. They are at the top of the heap and they’ve gotten lackadaisical. It’s why I don’t watch ESPN anymore.

I only watch them for highlights,
Even though they didnt show many of them.
No matter how much they are hyped, my teams always find a way to disappoint.

Yeah, I wouldn't know I don't watch
I can tell you that they’ve obviously poured tons of resources into their website and fantasy leagues because those look splendid on a phone and they have a great website.

Does moore have 4 potential (at least) above-average pitches?
Fastball, Slider, Changeup (Callis rated this above-average), Curve?
If it's lonely at the top, I'd rather be alone
cause the closest people to ya, the ones who gonna do you wrong
I'm not sure that pitch we saw last night
was part of his offerings or not. someone here said its possible that it was a curve with the added adrenalin from pitching on that stage. My understanding is that he throws a Fastball, Curve and Change but some think that 88mph nastyliscious pitch was a cutter.
by Peter Piontek on Jul 11, 2011 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions
They were saying he calls it a cutter
But it looks like a filthy slider. Of course, this was 1 inning. He wont sit at 98 and have that kinda breaking pitch through a whole start up here.
Under construction
Man, that ball was hit by Beckham
He’s used to much smaller parks and he still almost got it out on a line. Always gotta love the “that’s not fair” line after a Rays pitcher does something nasty.
Under construction
that strikeout pitch to Liddi was most certainly unfair.
by Peter Piontek on Jul 11, 2011 12:26 PM EDT up reply actions
It's unfair that we didn't get to see it due to the crapiness of the camera angle
by Ben Tumbling on Jul 11, 2011 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions
Yea
I kept wondering why ESPN kept using that angle, it didnt add anything at all. They didnt only do it to Moore either, they did it t everybody. I knw ESPN is bad, but I didnt knw they were that bad. Did MLBN have this game on or not?

Hak Ju was burning it down the line
on that ground ball to 2nd, good to see. And he looked smooth on the turn. Nice double by Beckham, a few more inches up and he’s the MVP.
Moore looked great too of course.

Braves fans couldn't figure out why Moore had jumped Teheran
in the BA midseason top 50. Now they now why. Teheran is really good, but Matt Moore is one of the most promising left handed prospects that’s come around in years.
Since 2007
It’s pretty much Kershaw, Price, Chapman, and Moore who got this kind of buzz, right?

Price actually had some skeptics due to the unremarkable strikeout rates he posted in the minors
And some control issues as well in parts.
by Ben Tumbling on Jul 11, 2011 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions
ESPN had him at 100 MPH ?!?!?
I didn’t know he threw all that!

people are saying TV was 2mph above the scouts radar guns
but 98 is still movin

Would be nice to see as a Sept call up for bullpen help down the stretch
ala Price in ’08

Callis:
Moore’s breaking pitch is usually a nasty curveball, and when I asked him about his slider after the game, he looked a little sheepish. He threw three breaking balls but didn’t stay on top of them, so they turned into 86-87 mph sliders. It says something about his ability to generate arm speed and spin the ball that he could throw a plus slider by mistake.

What pitch or two do you think he should add to his arsenal, assuming he need one?
My thinking is that a sinker might help in getting him deeper into games by abbreviating long at-bats.
by Ben Tumbling on Jul 11, 2011 5:03 PM EDT up reply actions
I'd like a cutter/2-seamer. Not sure how much he works either, but if he could tweak that accidental slider and make it a cutter that would be great.
A couple FBs, a hammer curve, and a change is perfect.
If the guy already has a plus plus fastball and curve
and a good change up, maybe teach him a slider, although anyone who watched him pitch knows he has one, that was not a cutter. I would just have him work on his pick off move, have him come up as a lefty Shields with the pick off move.
Under construction
He could keep doing that.
I’d be okay with it.
where are my gifs? is this a new thread? you guys are litl fucking sluts. uck you guys. i bet you guys tmpons in the womines bathromms and pay 75 cents for each ne. fuck you

Let me (just for bragging rights) remind everyone that right before the year began, I said I would take Moore over Hellickson.
Watching the video of Moore, two things really stood out to me and speak volumes of the Rays talent in and dedication towards developing pitchers the right way.
As you all know, we have heard to the two plus to plus-plus pitches. We have heard of the improved changeup. We have looked at the video game stats. Yet two things that have seemingly not been discussed as much were his mechanics and his command. Many of us have actually heard reports/rumors of his command, but as we all know, outdated reports are nearly worthless.
Even in such a small sample size, his command was pretty impressive to me. He put the ball in the right spots and kept it low. Funny how many said he was overly pumped up, yet his command remained very solid. Then comes his mechanics. Honestly, besides for a two year old report from projecptprospect.com, I have never read anything on his mechanics. I’m not going to break them down (because I am no scout, have little clue about mechanics, suck at baseball, and others have done it), but they are very effortless. In a way, I see a little bit of David Price in his mechanics, although not in the actual mechanics but in the effort.
Funny note: We all take notice of the “pumped” ESPN gun, yet I haven’t seen many (as in other team’s fans) subtract 2 mph off of their prospects velocity. Teheran and CMart aren’t so impressive anymore, right? (For the record, I do understand how small of a sample size this is.)
Well in terms of Morre vs Helly
everyone knew that Moore had way more upside but helly was considered safer, so who ever you picked of the 2 depended n whether you like safe prospects or high upside. And that is one of the reasons I was so glad he made the this game is because I would finaly be able to see him throw for once.He has got to be the only top prospect I know that doesnt have any video of him online besides a year old 30 second clip of him in spring training.
No matter how much they are hyped, my teams always find a way to disappoint.

Yup.
You can really get a good feel for a guy when you watch him pitch.
I’ll be heading to Steinbrenner Field to see the Tampa Yankees host the Stone Crabs later this month. I’m hoping I can get to see a Jake Thompson start, as I would really like to know how he is not striking out more guys with his stuff.
Does anyone know if there is a stadium gun?
