The Legend lives on....?
So the main theme these days on here is DJ not being up.
I have seen numerous posts stating people are sick of seeing Fuld and Ruggs being on the field so I did a little research on our 4 full time OF's and it suprised me somewhat....
By full time, i mean everyone who plays the outfield minus BenZo.
Stats below are from 1st June
| AVG | Doubles | Triples | HRs | OBP | SLG | BB% | K% | wOBA | |
| Fuld | 291 | 6 | 2 | 0 | 357 | 433 | 9.60% | 16.65% | 347 |
| Joyce | 172 | 7 | 0 | 4 | 222 | 354 | 5.90% | 29.20% | 253 |
| Upton | 233 | 3 | 0 | 8 | 298 | 400 | 8.50% | 23.60% | 303 |
| Ruggiano | 253 | 4 | 0 | 3 | 330 | 410 | 0.00% | 23.25% | 283 |

Suprisingly Fuld has been more than holding he's own (ok, so its not great competion at the moment). He leads the OF's in AVG, Triples, OBP, SLG, BB%, K% and wOBA over this period.
At the end of the day super Sam Babson Fuld is a 4th Outfielder and if if you take out his awful MOM he is putting up decent numbers. SO LAY OFF THE FULD!

I've been noticing that people bitch about Fuld and he really hasn't looked bad at the dish
Add to that his walks and speed on the paths and I don’t mind him being out there. He has had some stinkers of games but so has Upton. The problem is he’s a 4th outfielder on a contending team. He’s good for his role but playing him as much as we have has exposed that he’s not an everyday player.
The big problem is his platoon partner Ruggiano who has just been awful. Even worse when you consider that his numbers are propped up a bit by his high BABIP to start his callup – remember when sf1 was chanting, “anyone think DJ could have put up Ruggiano’s numbers??”
DFA Ruggs, call up Guyer, and keep the platoon alive until beej is sadly gone and Deezy can play CF fulltime.
he's a 4th outfielder if he's on a CONTENDING team
which this team doesn’t feel like after the last couple series.
Interesting
I haven’t looked at his numbers lately. Glad to see that he’s rebounding and showing he belongs on a MLB team, both defensively and at the plate. Only argument is concerning what type of role he should play and how much he should play. I think Fuld is a great 4th OF, who can play every OF position.

The fact Fuld is leading in all of this screams why this team has no playoff hope
That, and the fact Ruggiano and Johnson still occupy roster spots
I'm not a fanboy, I'm a _______
This argument is faulty.

He doesn't have extra-base power like Desmond.
He is doing what he is capable off, though. Great fielder, too.
I AM THE MONSTER - The big SCARY monsta
Fuld definitely hit a cold slump BABIP-wise.
I think it’s safe to say he’s better than he appeared several weeks ago:

Every team needs a Sam Fuld type player..even the Rays.
…4/5th OF’er who plays good defense, late inning replacement, great speed, can bunt, can fill in for 2 weeks at a time…
