Tonight, MLB Network will debut its new game show, "Baseball IQ." The second episode of the night, airing at 9:30 PM ET, will feature Rays baseball research and development assistant Shawn Hoffman, competing against the Baltimore Orioles' baseball information coordinator, Jay Moskowitz.
A quick primer on the show: All of the contestants are front-office personnel for different MLB franchises, competing for charity. The season is structured as a single-elimination tournament, with two new episodes airing every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 9 and 9:30 until a winner is determined. The game itself is described as a "recall-based trivia format," and the questions are, of course, all about baseball. The host is Matt Vagersian, who I think is a good fit for something like this.
A more detailed analysis of the show, including a complete description of the rules and the tournament bracket, can be found here (MLBNetwork.com). Be sure to watch (or at least DVR!)
