The Stats Go Marching In: The Art of Handling the Pitching Staff
Get this: Jose Molina, limited innings and all, comes in on the top of another defensive study regarding catchers.
I'm totally ready for 162 games of Molina. Get the man some bionic legs, do what it takes, because the Rays might just start a whole new Deadball Era in 2012.

I do love to say WOWY
And this makes me even more excited. Best defense in baseball, pitcher’s park, best defensive catcher in baseball (framing and pitch calling).
We may or may not have the best rotation, but even if we don’t I’m betting it looks like we do.
One of the most satisfying pieces I've read was tangotiger's introduction of WOWY in the 2008 Hardball Times Annual
I was blown away by the creativity and intuitiveness of his method.
The article is actually still online via preview. Page 140 and up. Here

I would love to believe he did and can continue to do so

ohhhh I just realized this was for 2008-2011 combined
That’s a lot more reasonable

Assuming the Rays had league average defense from their catchers (they were probably worse), and that Jose will be able to keep up his performance from the last 4 years, and that these numbers are accurate
Having Molina catch a game will lower the expected ERA of the pitcher by .35 runs compared with last year.
Wow.

I'm certain that Molina will catch Hellickson games
Who else should he be caddying? Davis to fix him? Matt Moore because he’s a rookie? Price to take him to the next level?
I think Hellickson and the 5th starter (Niemann or Davis) are the only ones who should get caddied
Shields, Price, and even Moore will get some degree of “star treatment” given how they’re viewed nationally. More importantly, the Rays need to artificially inflate the value of whoever our 5th starter is, that way we can get on with the trading.

Yea. great point on raising the trade chips' value
Can’t wait for some pitch fx analysis on Helly’s first start.
