I don’t understand the allure of reading DRB only to find things to complain about. If you want to be active part of the community and from time to time feel there is a clever quip or concern to express thats one thing, but there needs to be a value added element of a user too.

I didn’t realize at the time that Jason and Steve had posted, somewhat inexorably, a minute apart from each other, otherwise I would have waited a few more hours.

Why the complaining?
I can’t believe all the complaints about this post. Doesn’t Luke Scott’s facial hair deserve a full front page display? I’ve spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out whether this represents a horrible accident with a razor, or whether he was actually aiming for this look.
I dunno how or why he got, but I'm pretty sure my dreams for the last 30 nights have all somehow pertained to it.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, MLB will announce expanded playoffs on Thursday.
It’s about time. MLB commissioner Bud Selig pushed for expanded playoffs to begin this season, but the matter was held up for weeks in order to figure out scheduling. Under the terms of the new collective bargaining agreement, there will two wild card teams in each league instead of one. The two wild cards will then play each other in a one-game playoff, with the winner advancing to the Division Series.

this really gives a huge advantage to the team with the best record (whom I assume will play the winner of this WC playoff)
WC teams will most likely have to use their best starter available which means he wouldn’t be able to pitch game 1. This could mean that these wild card teams could be forced into pitching their #1 and #2 starters the last game of the season and the WC play in game considering very rarely are the WC teams locks.

additionally, it means verlander gets two starts at least in the divisional round.

With the ALW going down to Texas/LA and the ALE going to New York/Boston/Tampa Bay, the cakewalk that is the ALC for the Tigers should make them the favorites just based on the facts there’s next to 0% chance they’ll have to play the WC playin game. While also giving them the best shot to have the best record in the AL to play the WC winner.
