According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays have made it official, leaving Jeff Niemann in the rotation while sending Wade Davis to the bullpen. It's not a surprising move considering the skill sets of the two righties. Niemann appears to be a better immediate fit in the rotation, while amongst the two Davis' stuff profiles better to a bullpen role.
This certainly isn't a permanent solution, as it's still likely one starting pitcher gets traded before season's end.
