Down On The Farm: April 27

via www.indyweek.com

The four minor league teams went 0-4 last night and were outscored 39-11 in the process. Gory details after the jump...

AAA Durham Bulls (6-16)

Durham's 11th straight loss was a laugher early when Alex Torres allowed seven runs -- six earned -- on six hits and two walks in 1+ inning. Lance Pendleton and Romulo Sanchez fared only slightly better, combining to allow five runs over the next three innings, and Indianapolis went on to win 13-2. Leslie Anderson collected two hits for the Bulls including a double. Reid Brignac was 1-4 and committed a fielding error. Indianapolis' 1-7 hitters all had multiple hits. Nevin Ashley was hit by a foul tip and suffered a broken hand (h/t @sobsey)

AA Montgomery Biscuits (10-13)

Birmingham broke the game open with six runs over the 3rd-5th innings as Montgomery got sloppy in the field in the 11-3 loss. Tyler Bortnick, Hak-Ju Lee, and Shane Dyer all committed errors leading to six unearned runs. Dyer lasted 4.0 innings, coughing up five hits and four walks, though only two of his six runs were earned. Merrill Kelly allowed two unearned, Neil Schenk one earned, and Jim Paduch two earned. Cole Figueroa homered and Omar Luna collected two hits including a two-run triple in the first inning.

High-A Charlotte Stone Crabs (11-10)

Wilking Rodriguez was roughed up for six runs in 4.2 innings as Bradenton cruised to a 9-2 victory in Charlotte. Rodriguez recorded 1-2-3 innings in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th but struggled with control and extra-base hits, allowing the runs on just three hits and three walks. He struck out five. The only Stone Crab to reach base twice was Ty Morrison, who did it on an error and a HBP and stole a base. Derek Dietrich had an RBI triple and Mikie Mahtook plated him on a sac fly in the 4th for Charlotte's two lone runs. Victor Mateo allowed three runs -- one earned -- in 3.1 innings and Nate Garcia tossed a scoreless frame.

Low-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (13-9)

Wildness from Justin Woodall and an error by Tyler Goeddel cost the Hot Rods three runs in the 5th, breaking a 2-2 tie and giving Beloit the cushion to go on to a 6-3 win. Felipe Rivero allowed his first earned runs of the year, two of them on six hits in 5.0 innings. He struck out six and walked two. Woodall's runs were unearned, but he wasn't sharp with two hits and two walks in an inning of work. Taylor Motter was the only Hot Rods with a multi-hit game, and a double by Goeddel was the team's only extra-base hit.

Star of the day - N/A

Goat of the day - Alex Torres. Nothing positive as he allowed seven runs in 1+ inning on six runs and two walks. ERA now in the double digits.
