Rays Not Awarded Lottery Pick (Per John Gregg)

MLB held its new Competitive Balance Lottery draft today that involved picks added after the 1st and 2nd rounds (A & B picks) and the Rays did not draw the lucky number for any of the 12 picks. Those picks are unique because for the first time in baseball history, teams can trade the rights to those picks. There were 14 teams in this lottery and the Rays and Cardinals were the only teams to leave it empty handed. Round A: Royals, Pirates, D-Backs, Orioles, Reds, Marlins Round B: Padres, Indians, Rockies, A's, Brewers, Tigers
