Running off at the keyboard during a brief break from fishing and frolicking in the low country surf in South Carolina...
You likely already know that Rays pitchers struck out a league-leading 241 batters in in 240.1 innings last month. Only the 1964 Indians that sternfan1 cheered on wholeheartedly in his youth struck out more in a single month as they struck out 264 batters but needed 294.1 innings to do so. You may not know that the team now also leads all of baseball in K% as the team currently has a 22.3% K% on the season besting Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Washington on the season as the only four teams with at least a 22% K%.
One way to mask defensive issues is to keep balls out of play and that is something the Rays are doing with increasing regularity these days.
