Triple-A Durham Bulls (22-14)
A disastrous seventh inning doomed the Bulls on Saturday as they dropped the game 9-3 to Lehigh Valley. Will Inman pitched the seventh, allowing seven runs on three walks and three hits, one of them a grand slam. Chris Archer only lasted three innings for the Bulls due to a line drive that ricocheted off of him; he allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out four batters. Mike Fontenot hit a double and a home run for the Bulls.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (18-17)
Matt Nevarez's first run allowed on the year gave him and the Biscuits a loss in the eleventh inning by the score of 5-4. Victor Mateo had a rough start, going 5.2 innings and allowing 11 hits and four runs. The Biscuits evened the game with a three run fifth inning. Mikie Mahtook broke out of a mini-slump by collecting two hits, one of them a double.
Advanced Class-A Charlotte Stone Crabs (12-23)
The Charlotte Stone Crabs were the only victorious Rays minor league team on Saturday, winning 4-1. Ryan Carpenter pitched seven masterful innings, while Lenny Linsky and Austin Hubbard sealed the victory with a scoreless inning apiece. Drew Vettleson and Hector Guevara both hit home runs while Richie Shaffer and Jeff Malm had two hits each.
Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (21-12)
Some sloppy defense by the Hot Rods cost them the game on Saturday as they lost 6-1. Eduar Quinonez allowed four runs in six innings, but only one of them was earned. Ryan Garton allowed two runs in his two innings of relief. The Hot Rods managed only two hits on a dismal offensive night.
Star of the Day: Ryan Carpenter led the Stone Crabs to victory.
Goat of the Day: Plenty of "worthy" candidates, but Will Inman's inning stands out.
