Down on the farm June 10: O'Conner's hot streak

This probably wasn't the best swing of Justin O'Conner's career - Jim Donten

As of late, Bustin O'Conner has not lived up to his somewhat clever and mildly amusing nickname

I admit I have no clue with some of the probables today. The Southern League and FSL schedules have been so disrupted lately that it's tough to guess what teams are going to do.

Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (33-29) ***Featured game of the day***

Bowling Green easily disposed of Lake County behind Taylor Guerrieri in a 9-1 win over the Captains. Guerrieri didn't have his strikeout stuff, but he certainly improved on his last start when he allowed six runs in four innings. He struck out two in six scoreless innings and only allowed three hits and two walks. Meanwhile, the offense rolled behind the suddenly hot Justin O'Conner. The former first rounder hit his second home run in three games and reached base two more times on a pair of walks. He's reached base multiple times in five straight games. Tommy Coyle also hit a two run home run, a seventh inning shot that extended the Hot Rods lead to 8-0. Luke Maile reached base three times, and Leonardo Reginatto had three hits.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (40-24)

Alex Colome didn't receive much support in Durham's 5-1 loss to Louisville. The Bulls took a 1-0 lead in the fourth thanks to a two out single by Tim Beckham that scored Wil Myers, but Colome failed to get the shutdown inning. Three straight singles to open the bottom half of the inning tied the game up for the Bats, and they finished the game with five straight runs. Colome would achieve the bare minimum quality start, allowing three runs in six innings on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Myers and Beckham both reached base twice, but none of Durham's seven hits went for extra bases. Billy Hamilton stole two bases against the battery of Cory Wade and Jesus Flores.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (32-31)

A first inning run was unable to hold up in Montgomery's 7-1 loss to Huntsville. The Biscuits scored that run without even hitting the ball out of the infield. After walking to lead off the game, Kevin Kiermaier advanced on a sac bunt, infield single and came around to score on a throwing error as Mikie Mahtook stole second base. Merrill Kelly got through the first three innings with ease, but the Stars got to him in the fourth. They sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs on four hits and a handful of walks. Kelly finished with six runs allowed in four innings on five hits and three walks with only one strikeout. Meanwhile, former first rounder Taylor Jungmann cruised for Huntsville, allowing just the unearned run in seven innings of work.

Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (27-33)

Charlotte was rained out.

Star of the day- O'Conner's hot stretch almost certainly won't last, but it is fun.

Goat of the day- That six run inning really did in Kelly and the Biscuits.
