Triple-A Durham Bulls (43-26)
Behind the bat of Wil Myers and a strong pitching performance, the Durham Bulls defeated the Indianapolis Indians by the score of 4-2. Wil Myers, after last night's rare quiet performance, rebounded in fine fashion, going 3-4 with home run #14. Vince Belnome also contributed three hits. After Matt Buschmann failed to make it out of the sixth inning while allowing two runs, the bullpen stepped up and held the Indians scoreless.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (35-33)
Thanks to some clutch hitting, the Montgomery Biscuits narrowly edged out the Jacksonville Suns 7-6 on Saturday night. The Biscuits only reached base eleven times, with only two extra base hits, yet scored seven runs. The Sun's sloppy defense also contributed to the Biscuit's run total as they committed four errors on the night. It was a tough start for the Biscuit's Mike Colla as he allowed six runs in 5.1 innings. However, three relievers combined to hold the Suns scoreless the rest of the way.
Advanced Class-A Charlotte Stone Crabs
Saturday night featured the Florida State League All-Star game, and three Stone Crab players saw action. Richie Shaffer, the starting third baseman, went 1-2 with a walk and a run batted in. Curt Casali entered the game as a pinch hitter, going 1-3 with a strikeout as the catcher. On the pitching side, Ryan Carpenter pitched a scoreless sixth inning.
Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (37-30)
Jeff Ames re-found his form in the Hot Rod's 5-1 victory over Lansing. Ames went five scoreless, hitless innings while Ryan Garton and Matt Ramsey pitched the final four. Andrew Toles returned to the lineup and went 2-5. Justin O'Conner went 2-3 with a walk.
Star of the Day: Wil Myer's kept pace with Matt Joyce for the organizational home run lead.
Goat of the Day: An organizational sweep renders this category useless.
